In both Matthew and Luke, after Jesus talks about the signs of His returning he says, "Where the corpse is, there the vultures will gather." Matthew 24:28 and Luke 17:37. Any ideas on why?

Peace, what a good question! I was going to write my thoughts so went and read it again and now i'm not sure either! Tho I do believe He meant it as a truth but also as an analogy. Would like to see others thoughts also!

That IS an interesting question and also a good answer, gr8tful. The fact that vultures are an unclean bird may have an analogy to false prophets? As in the sense, "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean." (Matthew 23:27).
