God's People Compared to the Grain Harvest - 22 November 2017
These notes are a comparison of two types, found in one book of the Scriptures: the typology of the Bride, and the typology of the grain harvest.
Boaz was a man with great fields of grain, both barley and wheat, and is referred to as the Goel, the Kinsman Redeemer. I believe the Book of Ruth lays out a very full typology or shadow of the Redeemer, His Bride and the fruit of their union in Heaven, Israel in the end-times and Israel's full restoration to joy and fulfillment.
I believe that the typology in the Feast of Pentecost may shed encouraging light on the Rapture, the marriage of the church and Christ, and upon the blessings of Israel.
I think the grain harvest will be fulfilled, when sometime during the harvest of souls, (and maybe actually during season of harvest months), the Redeemer will be married to his Bride.
The marriage of Ruth and Boaz took place sometime during the months of grain harvest, (well before the later harvest of crushing of grapes). Ruth gathered barley in springtime and she then worked on until the end of the harvest of Boaz's fields.
Other harvests of wheat and the grapes of wrath occur during the Tribulation.
(The foregoing paragraphs about Ruth, Boaz are part of a longer file,Types of Bride Grain.)

Scriptures about God's people being a grain harvest don't quickly come to mind, though I need to further look at the parables of Jesus.
In considering typology of Israel as the second, pleasing wife, like Esther and Rachel, found the following which is very encouraging for continuing to seek:
Hosea 2:19-23
19 And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.
20 I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD.
21 And it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear, saith the LORD, I will hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth; 22 And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel.
23 And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God.
The 21st verse causes an alert, the comparisons are clearly spiritual and should cause us to consider the prophetic meanings of "they shall hear the earth," and "the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil" and "I will sow her unto me in the earth."
24 Nov 2017 Regarding the oil, I've just realized that the oil points to the harvest of the olives for oil, the harvest which comes latest in the year. A thrilling thought to me is that the pressing of the olive yields an oil pleasing to God. It occurs to me that this pressing is bringing forth the best from the olives, our best hopes, thoughts, our talents. What a great mystery lies in God's ancient olive tree.
In trying to compare the grain harvest to the rapture (and the later tribulation reaping), the grapes vat of God's wrath (displayed at Armageddon and events at the time of His crushing of His enemies before His glorious rule upon the earth), I am left with a new and wondrous subject, God's olive tree, His people Israel, His grafted in ones the Christians, and the marvelous symbol of what His olive tree produces, oil.
I'm hardly able to comprehend the immense topic and how to start to study this precious fruit of the olive tree. In the Bible, oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit, oil is used to anoint kings, priests, oil is used for soothing and healing wounds, olive oil is a food that brings blessing and health. The pressing of the olive oil doesn't come to mind when I consider the rapture, or the tribulation symbols about grain and grapes. What comes to mind is God's plan and dealings, Israel's history and long existence and preservation, and the mystery of how sufferings of God's people is expressed and revealed in this symbol, the oil.

May the Lord make these final days upon the earth before His gathering be the most blessed, the most fruitful, the most assured of any days you have lived.
