I'm not sure, Jim. That's supposed to be Spock's mother. Maybe if I google Spocks mother it will tell her real name. Let me try that.

Shiloh, I just googled it and Jane Wyatt played Spock's mom. Wasn't she the actress that was married to President Ronald Reagan?
My favorite TV mom was Barbara Billingsley from Leave it to Beaver. I always wanted her to be my mom when I was a little kid.

Well that's interesting. I didn't know her real name and I just looked up to see if her and Peter Billingsley from "A Christmas Story" (he's also a director now too) to see if they were related and they are. She died in 2010. It said she was his mother.

First off, thank you both for the Jane Wyatt info.! I Knew she looked familiar as a TV mom and now I know that I recognized her from "Father knows Best". I find it amusing that she continued her role as a TV mom playing Spock's mom (didn't know he had a mom in that series) I agree with you, Elizabeth, I loved Barbara Billingsley as June Cleaver. I also loved the bit she did in the movie "Airplane" (video below). But the info I found shows that she's only distantly related to Peter Billingsley. link Elizabeth, when I saw that you and Benjamin put up great pics of yourselves, I felt as if I should try to find a pic as well, because it is nice to "see" who's talking. What's funny is that every time I'd read your posts prior, I was imagining you as your avatar ... anyway, it's nice to see you for real. So thanks again, ladies, for answering my question (because I tend to obsess on weird stuff like that).

Jim, I wasn't sure which source I read was accurate. The one I posted said she was his mother but I think it was through a second marriage or something. But, I would think she'd be old enough to be his grandmother, wouldn't you? LOL, watch us go from "Turning My House Over to God" to ancestry. I'm so sorry Leeza.
We must stay on track !!!!...er...Trek

The best way to end this ... would be where Leeza began : TURNING MY HOUSE OVER TO GOD You are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow-citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household. (Ephesians 2:19, NIV) Today I would like to tell you a parable. There was a man -- let’s call him John. John had a two-storey house, with five rooms on the ground floor and five upstairs. One day he heard someone knocking gently on the front door. When John opened it, it was the Lord Jesus. “Please come in,” John said, thrilled at the unexpected visit. “I’ll give you the best room in the house -- it is upstairs.” Well, Jesus is a gentleman, and he said “thank you” and gladly accepted the invitation. The next morning someone hammered hard on the front door. When John opened it, who was there? The devil. “No!” shouted John, “I don’t want you here.”. But the devil grinned, “I’m already in” -- and pushed John aside. A huge fight began. Satan poured filthy temptations on John, negative, sinful thoughts; it was horrible. By the evening, John somehow gained the upper hand; he threw the devil out and closed the door. Still trying to catch his breath, he said to himself, “Just a minute. I gave Jesus the best room in the house. Why didn’t he come and help me?” John took his question to Jesus, who said, “Look, you gave me just one of your ten rooms.” John saw the problem, fell to his knees and said, “Lord Jesus, I can see my mistake. Please forgive me. Let’s make it 50/50.”. Jesus politely accepted his offer. The next day was a repeat of the day before. Somehow the devil got in and the fight was on again. By the evening, John was totally exhausted and again wondered, “Why didn’t Jesus come and help me today? I’ll have to go and ask him.” The Lord said, “My child, why don’t you give me your whole house and then, instead of me staying with you as your guest, why don’t you stay with me?” John broke down. He pulled the key to the front door from his pocket and handed it to Jesus. "Please be Lord over my entire life,” he said. Now he had given Jesus everything. The next morning, while it was still dark, someone knocked at the front door so hard that the whole building shook. John jumped out of bed shaking with fright. “Oh no, it’s the devil again,” he whimpered. Then suddenly he heard footsteps in the house. It was Jesus, striding in majesty and power toward the front door. He was holding the key. Now it was his duty to answer the door to callers. John wondered what would happen and ran to the door. John was standing right behind Jesus when the Lord opened the door wide. Who was it? The devil, of course. Yet when the devil saw Jesus standing at the door, he bowed low, very low indeed, and said, “Sorry, Sir. I must have knocked on the wrong door!” And the devil ran off as fast as he could. Have you made Jesus Lord over every part of your life? Or is he only Lord over some of the rooms in your house? Some people have given Jesus nine rooms in the house of their life but there is a sign on the door to room number 10 which says “Private – No entry.” That room contains hidden sins, lies, deception, and unclean things that they know Jesus does not like. In that room, they live a double life. Those are the very things that give the devil the right to keep knocking at our front door and forcing his way in. Jesus cannot be deceived. He knows everything about us. He knows what is happening in every room in our life -- even in those places that we studiously try keep from him. Give him the entire house of your life. Everything. Every part of it. He wants to remove all the dirt, clean it up, make it tidy, put it to rights and, in a way, open all the windows to let light and fresh air in. He wants every part of your life to be somewhere where he can stay and feel at ease. Invite him wholeheartedly to be Lord over every single part of your life. In your own words, say something like this: “Dear Lord Jesus Christ, I give you every room, every nook cranny in the house of my life. I willingly give you, as my Lord and Savior, EVERTHING! You know all about my sins, my situation and my addictions. I place my trust fully in you, the Son of the living God. Cleanse me and make my life a place where you feel at ease and which honours you. I open myself up to your Holy Spirit and want to follow you all the days of my life. I trust you and your good guidance. Please be Lord over my life!” That is what I recommend if you want to live a life of victory! Elizabeth, thanks for clearing up the mystery on who was the slapping woman! Like Jim, it was kind of bothering me, too. But no, Jane Wyatt wasn't married to Ronald Reagan, Jane Wyman was. She was on Falcon's Crest. I remember reading somewhere that Nancy Reagan avoided seeing Falcon Crest because Jane Wyman was a painful reminder of Ron's first wife. Anyway, no worries, Shiloh and Jim. I really had a lot of fun on this thread. So glad you all did too! Okay, now that we got our funny bone out of our system, what did ya'll think of the article that I posted?

Leeza, I think that analogy is fine if a Christian has the teaching and faith behind them. You will have to be able to reckon upon your faith, and that is the key.
Unfortunately, I think usually we wander around in our Romans 7 experience, for a long, long time.

Oh, Elizabeth, me too! If I would have known this a long time ago, it would have saved me years of making one mistake after the other! I went through Romans 7 for a loooong time before I learned how to abide in Christ and to live my life by His leading and not my own. But that is what santification is all about, isn't it?

Leeza, here's my analogy of my life. I do okay, and then I end up in the weeds. I do okay for quite a bit, and then I stumble. I do okay, and then the weeds. . .
I still am familiar with Romans 7, but I am increasingly familiar with deliverance from sin through Christ, because I've learned how to reckon it so, and God has given me the faith. It will just continue.

Leeza and Elizabeth, we have one more thing in common. After 10 years of caring for our mom, I thought I was standing strong in The Lord. Unfortunately, 1 Corinthians 10:12 became a reality for me. Hopefully, The Lord will return before I make that mistake again.

Like I was saying, no worries, Shiloh! I love your posts. Oh, wow, I can really relate to that, Elizabeth, lol!! I think I spend most of my Christian life struggling like that. It took years before I learned how to abide in Christ, but what an uphill struggle before that! Jim, yes, that is one more thing we have in common, because I spent years taking care of my mom, too, before she passed away. I had never been closer to the Lord in my life than when I was struggling with things that were too difficult for me to handle on my own. I used to try to be strong and self-sufficient until I discovered that I couldn't do it without the Lord's help. There is something about falling flat on your face and having the Lord pick you up off the ground to learn how to abide in Him!

I like the article and yes, we took care of my father for 11 years before he went to be with the Lord. He had an accident and was a quadripeligic. I was pregnant at the time with our oldest son...wait..I only have one anyway. Our oldest child, I should say. This is why Benjamin calls me senile. We DO need to turn our house over to the Lord because the way I viewed the article is that we can do nothing on our own, which is so true. Our "works" don't amount to a thing. However, I did look up Reinhard Bonnke because I had never heard of him before. He sort of ranks along with the likes of Kenneth Copeland and Benny Hinn. Neither of which, I'm fond of for various reasons. That's absolutely nothing against the article though. I liked it.

Wow, Shiloh, so you, me, and Jim all have that in common, taking care of our ailing parents. Being a caregiver is hard, but so rewarding. I was so glad that I could be there for my mom, as I'm sure you and Jim are glad you could be there for your parents also. Oh, no, Kenneth Copeland and Benny Hinn? Yikes! I'm with you, that's how I feel about them, too. Thanks for checking that out. But I'm glad that you liked the article. I did too. So much truth in it.
