LOL! Oh man! I sort of sounded like I was on a soap box there didn't I? I didn't mean to come off that way at all. I apologize if it looked that way or had a tone of that but that's not how I intended it.

Well the apostles did not have the Bible but they do have the scriptures which have been perfectly preserved (even up to now). And the New Testament books and letters are all based on the OT. Anyway I agree with you Shiloh. The Bible versions topic is not my main concern - my main concern is my relationship with GOD.
I am just passionate in what I believe in including the translation subject. Again, at the end of the day what truly matters is my relationship between me and GOD. It is charity that I am truly after.

Not really. You articulately expressed a viewpoint, which I happen to share. So again, thank you.

Very fitting scripture, eben. I agree. What is my personal relationship with the Lord? I don't want to show a lack of love for my brethren or or lack in charity (whatever form that may come in). Jesus told us, "I give you this commandment; that you love one another." Okay. I paraphrased that, I know... but isn't that the greatest commandment? Jim, I cannot keep a straight face looking at your avatar. If I'm sad or having an 'off' day, all I'll have to do is get on the board and read your comments because it's such a funny visual with that avatar.

I just don't understand how anybody could think that any translation is perfect. It's just not the case.
One super simple example:
Daniel 8:14, in the KJV, says that "he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed."
..but the hebrew doesn't use the word "day" at all (yom), but rather, "mornings" (eber) and "evenings" (boqer). Is that a "perfect" translation? I'd suggest no, because it's actually, quite literally, a reduction in information. So what is this? It's DYNAMIC EQUIVALENCE... taking a Hebrew idiom, "mornings and evenings", and interpreting it for us, into "day".

So you're implying the KJV is using Dynamic Equivalence.
I can understand why you do not believe in a perfect English translation - the human error factor is just too huge for a perfect translation to be possible. Hence there is no perfect English Bible.

I'm not implying that the KJV uses dynamic equivalence as a primary method of interpretation, but it certainly does employ it in parts. My issue isn't particularly with the KJV itself, I think it's an excellent translation - I just don't think it's an inerrant one.

That's okay Benjamin, I respect your opinion and belief. I still hold my stance but it does not matter to be honest. In the end knowledge will fade away and what will remain is charity which I, again, what I am truly after.
