After three chapters, seven churches, one revelation and a whole bunch of history, we've finally reached Revelation 4: the throne room. The video link is below. The PDF is here, for those who prefer reading to watching: 4 - The Throne Room of the King.pdf (514.5 KB) I should note this week that there is a significant amount of content in the video that is NOT in the PDF link - primarily because I kept going 'off-script' while preaching. Anyway. I hope you enjoy it.

That was excellent and very well laid out. I always wondered, even after researching on my own as to who the 24 elders are. I completely agree that we have to go back to the O.T. to understand some things. I can't even imagine what it was like for John to be raptured. (The dead in Christ will rise first...) I knew that he was, but the enormity of it all! Being that the 7 churches have already been addressed and we are now living in the age of Laodicea, the rapture has to be any time now.

I haven't really addressed the 24 elders yet - that's still to come - but yes, they are the Church. They are the ONLY group in Scripture that fit the descriptions given.
The next sermon (on the 15th) will be looking at the Four Living Creatures, and possibly the Elders too, depending on how much time I have.

Okay. I was wondering why 24? I'm sure you'll address that, though.

I will. The only other place in scripture that the '24' is relevant is the courses of the priests' service in the temple. Basically it's an indication that the Elders are a Priesthood.

I always wondered about the 7 Thunders of God, too. I found this on Jack Kelley's site. What is your take on this? I know I'm getting ahead of your teachings.
The Seven Thunders Of God Q. In Revelation 10:3-4 the 7 thunders are talked about. Are these anywhere else in the Bible or is there any explanation for this?
A. The Seven Thunders of Rev.10 are most probably an unknown pronouncement of God between the 6th and 7th Trumpets. John was about to record this for us when the Lord told him not to (Rev. 10:4).
While they’re not specifically described anywhere else in Scripture, there is an interesting passage in Psalm 29 where the voice of the Lord is mentioned seven times and is compared to the sound of thunder. (Psalm 29:3-9). The name of the Lord is given four times in the two verse introduction of the Psalm and four times more in the two verse conclusion (four is the number of Creation). It appears ten times in verses 3 through 9 (ten is a number that denotes the completeness of Divine Order) and the phrase “Voice of the Lord” is repeated seven times (seven is the number of perfection). This passage is often called “the Seven Thunders of God.”
With the Seventh Trumpet, we’re told that the Kingdoms of the world have become the Kingdom of our Lord (Rev. 11:15) and for the first time the traditional translation of God’s name as “the One Who is and Who was and Who is to come” is changed to just “the One Who is and Who was” (Rev. 11:17) also indicating that His reign has begun. (Some translations put the “Is to Come” part back in but the Greek text doesn’t include it.)
This means that in the Heavenly view, the Great Tribulation has begun. After Satan’s losing battle in Heaven and confinement to Earth in Rev. 12, the anti-Christ makes his official appearance on Earth as Satan’s host at the beginning of Rev. 13. (He first came on the scene in Rev. 6 as a mere man.) This signals the start of the Great Tribulation on Earth. The seven Bowl judgments begin soon thereafter.
Put all this together and you can make a circumstantial case that the Seven Thunders announce that the coming Bowl Judgments will complete the Divine Order, perfectly satisfying God’s righteous requirement that the people of Earth be judged for their sins, leaving Earth in a condition of readiness to receive her King.

I watched the video, and then read the PDF, thank you for providing that, they were both excellent.
I loved the part about John being raptured. I had never thought too much about it, but you made it seem so plausible.
I really loved the bit about the breastplate stones, and the names of Jacobs children, Reuben, and Benjamin, and what their names meant.
Also, how the names of these stones were used to described Christ's appearance, as you mentioned, "Verse 3. “He who sat there was like a jasper and a sardius stone in appearance.” I love this kind of attention to detail, how it all ties in. I am not good at finding it myself, but love it when others point it out : )
I really appreciate all that you do here, Ben.

I read the transcript and can't wait to see the video. Benjamin- can I be part of your church? I know that in the end we are all part of "the church" but I would love to support this earthly one as well. I can't tell you how hard it has been to find a real voice and I want to support that- wherever it is. The quote from the "do you know him" guy was so powerful... I remember when I first saw his video- I was so moved- and remember playing an odd game with myself afterward- going through the alphabet- thinking of words- adjectives to describe our lord.. Amazing, beyond comparison, creative, deliverer, Emmanuel , ... All the way through the alphabet..:: just so inspired and wanting every word and evey letter to reflect him. And I felt that enthusiasm and fire in the transcript. And how I look forward to seeing the video. May The Lord bless you my friend. Xoxo

I know it's been a little quiet around here lately, but many of us came here in the first place because we earnestly sought the kind of fellowship that we just can't find in churches anymore - the kind of fellowship that comes from believers that genuinely love the Lord, and seek His face. Some of us go to a local church, and some of us haven't been lucky enough to find a good one - but either way, we're here, united in the Lord Jesus Christ, until He comes. We are the church.

It makes you feel like the church in the wilderness (titled after the book), doesn't it? That book really touched me and drove it home for me.

Amen ...and may he come quickly. And Shiloh- I never read that book but I'll look at the library. Sounds inspirational.

It really is, Chiara. I posted an excerpt from that book but it's probably real buried by now. His name is Chip Brogden and his website is great. He is not a prosperity preacher at all.
