IDF Shells Hezbollah Position After Border Blast
An explosive device was detonated on Friday evening near an IDF patrol that was on the border with Lebanon.
No one was physically hurt, but three soldiers were taken to the Ziv Hospital in Tzfat where they will be examined to ensure they did not suffer shock from the explosion.
The IDF retaliated and shelled a position of the Hezbollah terrorist group in Lebanon.
"In response to the explosive device activated against IDF (Israeli army) soldiers, the IDF fired towards a Hezbollah terror infrastructure in southern Lebanon. A hit was confirmed," the army said in a statement quoted by AFP.
Two weeks ago, two rockets landed near an IDF post in Mount Hermon. No injuries or damage were reported.
The IDF has been on "high alert" near the Lebanese border for several weeks, since Hezbollah threatened to retaliate for an alleged Israeli airstrike on a convoy carrying weapons intended for the group and which was sent by Syria.
Israel has not acknowledged the raid, but officials have confirmed a general policy of interdicting suspected arms deliveries from Syria to Hezbollah.
