Types of the End Times 3/91; retyped 11/17 Believers in Jesus Christ are shown by the type of a bride. Jesus gave us the mystical story about the ten virgins and the bride who is come for by the groom. So I think the bride in this procession was inside as we see the closed door. Paul spoke of the bride. [In 2017, I have come to believe Dr. Thomas Ice's interpretation is correct -- that the parable of the ten bridesmaids is about Israel, and five of the virgins awakened and had oil and were taken in, while five other sleeping virgins woke up but without oil.]
Eve Eve was made from the rib of her husband. Scripture states that no bone of Jesus's body was broken, and it has occurred to me that this reveals that we, His bride, are to be protected from harm. Though the lance pierced His side, His rib was not broken.
Rebekah the Kindred Bride Rebekah decided to marry Isaac because of what another had told her. Eliezar is much like the Holy Spirit in this, and Rebekah is like the church. Note that Rebekah is taken to Isaac's abode. Notice too that Rebekah is brought to him at a time when he is grieving over his mother's death. In the same way, the church is sought out and prepared by the Holy Spirit and will be taken to heaven, where Jesus is. In the story, Rebekah recognized her husband-to-be, although she had never seen him, and so will the church instantly recognize Jesus, and so will we go to Him. Isaac was the heir at the time his bride was brought to him, but not yet patriarch of his nation. Old Abraham was still living. This points to Jesus coming for His bride at some time prior to the establishment of His kingdom on earth.
Asenath the Gentile Bride Asenath is an excellent type of the church I believe. Joseph's gentile wife is protected in their beautiful dwelling, with her sons, as her husband is in power. He is dealing with his brothers during a time of suffering and famine. Joseph restores his brothers to himself with love and joy, just as Jesus will deal with His brothers in the tribulation of the Jews, "the time of Jacob's trouble." So Asenath may be a picture of the Lord's bride too. Jesus will be on His throne during the tribulation of the Jews. Note that Benjamin more than once receives extra portions in the story, and old Jacob's mysterious prophecy about Benjamin may tell us more. I believe this is another prophetic indicator that the end-time Jews will be to Jesus as Joseph's younger (and only full) brother was to him.
Zipporah the Midianite Bride Zipporah, whose name means "a sparrow," seems to be a good type of the church. She is a protected wife, and she stays close to Moses. Moses is compared to the Lord Jesus, and his wife fits well the church.
Deborah and Barak. the Victorious Church and the Lord Jesus The story of Deborah is much like that of the church. She receives wisdom from God. Barak is like the Lord Jesus, a general, already proven great in battle. He tells her he will not go to battle unless she accompanies him (so the Lord desires that the church will fight the spiritual forces with His help and wisdom). Deborah is married to Lapidoth, but is willing to go to battle with General Barak, and Jesus has told us we must put Him first before husband, mother, father, etc. Lapidoth seems to stay home. Note that Deborah (her name means 'a bee' or 'her speaking') sings of victory (she is told to 'awake, awake, utter a song') with Barak, whose name means 'lightning.' Barak is told to "Arise,... and lead thy captivity captive") because all the forces under Sisera (with 900 iron chariots) have been killed. Deborah foretells that the head of this army, Sisera, will be slain by a woman. Sisera is like Antichrist, Satan incarnate, and he will flee down to the plains of Israel and be finished off there. Jael is like the Jews, living in the plains of Israel (and her husband is away). The enemy, King Jabin, is like Satan. Notice that Deborah is singing victory songs, but is not at the place when the captain of the enemy is slain by Jael's nail! Deborah is not involved in any way. Notice Deborah's song about "the governors of Israel who offered themselves willingly," and about "ye who ride white asses," "that sit in judgment." Songs pointing to Jesus, our Victorious Lord, surely! In a downpour occurring in the story of Deborah and Barak, which turned the outcome of the battle against the enemy and sent its leader fleeing we see a picture of the way God will bring down the enemy strongholds in the heavenlies and defeat Antichrist at the Valley of Armageddon. I think the church, like Deborah, will be singing of the Lord's victory before the death of the enemy Antichrist. It appears that the church in Heaven will know the enemy is being defeated, just as Deborah did. We are told in Judges 4:14, "the Lord routed Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak, so that Sisera alighted from his chariot, and fled away.... Barak pursued.... Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet." The word which the Lord speaks and which destroys the enemy is compared to a two-edged sword in the book of Revelation. And here in the book of Judges the word says the Lord routed Sisera.... with the edge of the sword. The Plain of Megiddo. The battle of Deborah and Barak took place near the Plain of egiddo. Jael is like Israel, living out in the open area south of Megiddo, which seemed to Sisera like the place to which he should flee. Jael is the cause of his death, giving him "milk" when he asked for water. Scriptures are compared to milk by St. Paul, and here I believe we are being shown that Jerusalem will give the enemy "milk" (Scriptures) in the last confrontation with him. In Isaiah 22:23 we read, "I will fasten him like a nail in a sure place" in a description of the one on whom God will lay the key of the house of David, who "shall open, and none shall shut, and he shall shut, and none shall open," in the book of Revelation. Antichrist's defeat at Armageddon seems to be comparable to this story of Sisera and Jael. Isaiah 26:19-21 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain. Judges 5:12 Awake, awake, Deborah: awake, awake, utter a song: arise, Barak, and lead thy captivity captive....
In 2019 I have run across a few more name meanings, particularly Kadesh, and Deborah's presence there, that have a bearing on my Typology of the End Times post.
The story of Deborah is a picture of the Church raptured and in heaven, Barak's defeat of Satan, Israel in the field at Megiddo as the cause of the Antichrist's downfall. There is a downpour, the river Kishon takes away all the enemy force -- all is like the overcoming of the principalities, the 'princes of the power of the air.'
Deborah's name means 'a bee' or 'her speaking.' Her name brings to mind the Scripture of how the Lord will hiss for His bees.
Barak, whose name means "to kneel," or "lightning," is like the Lord Jesus, a general, head of an army. In Rev. 19:14, Jesus at the head of His armies, on a white horse.
Kadesh, which means "holy, sacred." The Church, like Deborah, will be at the Holy, Sacred place as the battle occurs. Deborah joined Barak at Kadesh Naphtali, a city of refuge, and remained there. She is singing praises so is watching Barak's victory I believe.
Barak will lead 10,000 men at the battle. Barak and Deborah know that they will be victorious and Deborah sings praises. Barak is told, 'Arise, and lead thy captivity captive.'
Mount Tabor means "purifying," "clarifying." It was the site of the battle between Barak and Sisera, head of Jabin's army. Mount Tabor was the site of the transfiguration of Jesus. Galilee means "region," "rolling."
Jael means Jael's name means "ibex," "mountain goat."
Kishon means "to lay bait or snare." I believe this points to Satan and his army being led to defeat when the Lord protects Israel at the battle at Megiddo. The army of Jabin was destroyed there. [The Kishon lies beside Mount Carmel.]
Harosheth means "carving of the nations," "silence of the gentiles."
Sisera means "meditation," "keen and swift," "see the horse."
Jabin means "he discerns." Heber means "enclave.... "

Ruth, the Gentile Bride Ruth is also a gentile bride. She is taken into her husband's home while he is harvesting his fields. She has learned about the true God from old Naomi, the Jewess. Naomi had lost her husband and both of her sons. Old Naomi advises Ruth to wash herself, anoint herself, and put on clean raiment and quietly lie down at Boaz's feet. Boaz rdeeems Ruth, marries her, she bears a child named Obed which means "serving." This compares to the church, which learned about the Lord from Israel, and which in turn becomes a blessing to Israel. So at the end we see Naomi with joy restored as she is made nurse to the child. Others around Naomi all remark on how blessed she is. I believe that Obed is like the 144,000 end time Jewish virgin young men. These men will be strong in the Lord, excellent servants of His, and God will be pleased with them.
Sheba, Type of the Bride I include the Queen of Sheba's mysterious words, prophecy: "It was a true report which I heard in mind own land of thine acts, and of thy wisdom; howbeit, I believed not their words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it. And, behold, the one half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told me; for thou exceedest the fame that I heard. Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, who stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom. Blessed be the Lord thy God, who delighted in thee to set thee on His throne, and to be king for the Lord thy God; because thy God loved Israel, to establish them forever, therefore made he thee king over them, to do justice and righteousness." II Chronicles 9:6, 7, 8.
Esther I see Esther as a type of the Jews of the end-time who will see Satan and all of his hoards killed when he is trying his best to kill them. Mordecai is like the Holy Spirit, who teaches them, and Esther and her three day fast seems to point to the tribulation. Esther, like Rachel, is a favored second wife of a mighty man.
Walls One type of a rapture would be the fallen walls of Jericho as all the people obey the captain and obtain a beautiful city. The people walked right over the flattened walls into the city. This would compare to God's obedient people going through the places where the prince of the power of the air and all of his demonic hoards had so long held strongholds.
A Pillar Jesus pointed out, "Remember Lot's wife." We see those who are warned, but are disobedient and look back to worldly things and do not flee sin. They will be left behind as some others are taken out. The name Sodom means "fettered" and Gomorrah means "bondage."
Silver Trumpets The two silver trumpets made for the Tabernacle were blown to gather the people, and they also were blown when it was time for the people to march. For centuries the world has had the Apostle Paul's warning that a trumpet will sound and the saved arise, yet we know multitudes will be on earth when the final seven trumpets are blown by the angels, as spoken of in Revelation. The ram's horn trumpets always remind me that the Lamb has been sacrificed. perhaps these seven trumpets will be the ram's horn trumpets -- repeating the message, the sacrificial Lamb has been slain. The ram's horn must have always reminded Isaac and Abraham of this fact. So I think that the two silver trumpets blown in the Heavenly Tavernacle will only be heard by those who are listening, the saved. A multitude of others will remain, later to experience the judgments announced by the seven trumpets.
Feasts The Lord Jesus came down and fulfilled the feast of Passover, and the feast of Unleavened Bread, and the feast of Firstfruits (when He arose and was likened to the first barley sheaf) and Pentecost (when He sent the Holy Spirit on a Sunday). Barley is harvested in April and May in Israel, and wheat is harvested later on. The next feast to be fulfilled by the Lord Jesus is the feast of Trumpets, a commemorating, a gathering of the people. When the High Priest blew the trumpet just before sundown on the day of the new moon that marked the beginning of the month, Tishri 1, occuring September-October, the people of God immediately quit working in the fields and went to the Temple to a convocation. Others just continued what they were doing, ignoring the command to the faithful to gather to worship. After the Feast or Convocation of Trumpets, the Jews observed ten days of "awe," on the tenth day fasting twenty-four hours, neither eating food nor drinking water. If the believers around the world have gathered at the sound of the heavenly trumpet, the unbelieving would remain on earth to observe these ten days of awe, then Yom Kippur, the Day of Covering/Atonement. The survivors will later celebrate the ingathering of the harvest, the Feast of Tabernacles, or booths made of branches and hung with grapes, fruits etc., remembering how they have been protected while in the wilderness. End time believers who come through the tribulation, time of Jacob's trouble, will celebrate. The Lord will tabernacle among us. He will return to His place ever to remain with us.
Closed Doors The idea of the closed door is very interesting and makes one think of the parable of the ten virgins. It also calls to mind the closed door of the ark of Noah (which Jesus specifically mentioned). Jesus said that He Himself is the door when He spoke about the sheepfold. The blood of the Lamb on the doorposts was the sign to the angel of death to spare those behind the closed doors.
The Restored Jews Abraham was restored in old age, saw the promise about a son come to pass even though it seemed impossible. Job was fully restored in health and wealth and children after his suffering. Naomi was restored and given a child in her old age.
The Extra Portions Rachel is in some way like Israel, a loved second wife. Leah had "weak eyes," and so did Israel of old (she didn't see the Savior, nor recognize Him when He came as Messiah). Rachel brought forth Joseph, as the nation Israel brought forth Jesus. Rachel then brought forth Benoni, which means "son of my sorrow," and then she died, but his father named him Benjamin, which means "son of my right hand." Consider this and the mysterious prophecy in Genesis 49:27, "Benjamin shall consume as a wolf; in the morning he shall devour the prey, and at night he shall divide the spoil." I think this speaks of the end-time. Also, I think the name his father gave Benjamin was also prophetic and indicates those Jews in the end-time who are like this youngest son and will be especially entrusted, protected, effective. And to receive spoils - to even "divide" it. Others have pointed out how the story of Joseph is amazingly like the story of Jesus. I have a list of the many comparisons between the two. I think Benjamin will prove to typify the 144,000 sealed servants of the book of Revelation. Benjamin is a full brother to Joseph, and may point to the fact that these end-time sealed Jewish servants will be much like Jesus. In the story of Joseph, Benjamin is given a portion that is three or five times more than the other brothers receive, on several occasions. (No estrangement between Joseph and Benjamin.)
The Childless Widow Restored Naomi is a marvelous type of the restored Jews. Although she has lost her husband and both sons, her gentile "daughter," Ruth, whom she has taught the ways of the Lord, loves Naomi, and gives Naomi her baby to nurture. Israel has suffered much, but she shall be restored! The mysterious words of Isaiah 60:16, "thou shalt also suck the milk of the gentiles; and shall suck the breast of kings" become more understandable if we picture the Jews receiving the milk of the New Testament words, and the breast of kings would be that of the Lord Jesus and His Father.
The Queen I think Esther is a type of the restored Jews, again depicted as a second wife, loved and pleasing to her Lord. Mordecai is a type of the Holy Spirit teaching her. Esther goes through much and lives to see her enemy (who lives in her midst) and all his sons slain after she intercedes for her people for three days. Three days brings to mind the last half of the Tribulation, the worst part. I think this story compares to the final defeat of Satan and his cohorts, the Antichrist and his followers.
The Young Men In the story of the three Jewish young men in the furnace, I see the young Jewish men in the tribulation, the sealed servants, brought through testing with the Lord manifested among them. He will miraculously bring them through to victory in the very presence of the enemy king. Here we have young men coming to the forefront as a type of the Jews.
The Doubly Blessed Son Ephraim We also see a type of the restored Jews in the son of Joseph, Ephraim. The name of Manasseh, firstborn of Joseph, means "causing to forget." It is Ephraim, whose name means "double ash heap" and "I shall be doubly fruitful" that seems to compare to Israel in the last days. I recall the prophecy that Joseph is as a fruitful vine on the wall. Ashes were used as fertilizer to cause abundant fruit. The Jews have had great suffering, but I think the Scriptures clearly say that they shall "receive double" blessing from the Lord. Many places there are pointers to this blessing, and that it will be fulfilled in ways not yet known. Ephraim, the grandson of Jacob received an inheritance portion of the same size as the sons of Jacob, as did Ephraim's brother, Manasseh. Ephraim received Jacob's blessing of his right hand. Joseph had placed Manasseh's head under Jacob's right hand, but Jacob moved his right hand to Ephraim, giving the second born the special blessing. Isaac gave Jacob, his second born, the special blessing also.
Jonah Jonah is a type of the Jews. He did what he was told, but was angry that all did not come to pass in the way and at the time he thought it should. The city/world has been given God's Word. Those who have come to God through Jesus, the Word, have been saved, but many Jews do not see that at this time. The Lord conversed with Jonah about Jonah's attitude and about the unsaved people He had asked Jonah to reach.
The Double Portion Elisha could be a type of the zealous end-time Jews, who will receive double that of the person who taught them. These holy young Jewish evangelists will experience miracles, and get a double portion.
Jesus's Words About His Coming Jesus said, "Remember Lot's wife." He also emphasized that the last days will be "as in the days of Noah," and "as in the days of Lot." Lot was delivered and fled before the destruction. Two angels held the hands of Lot and his family. It sounds as though Lot's wife pulled out of the angel's hand. Abraham stayed away from the things of the world and did not live in the wicked city. Many of us are like Lot and need to be closer to the Lord, living as Abraham did. Perhaps by pointing to these stories, Jesus would also remind us to look with care at the Old Testament stories for that which will alert and warn us! Elijah of long ago days will also be on earth finishing his ministry with the other witness in the final days of this era.
Bones The first bone we see in Scripture is Adam's rib, Eve. She is a type of the protected church taken from Jesus' wounded side. He bore so much suffering, but no bone of His body was broken. Some more bones are those of the man revived from the dead when his bones were placed on Elisha's in the grave. II Kings 13:12. Ezekiel saw bones and said he didn't know the meaning of them. "Thou knowest, Lord," Ezekiel said, in wonderment. I have been thrilled to be alive to see the Jewish people being gathered from the "graves" of the nations of the world to move to Israel. That is a marvelous fulfillment. Tribulation martyred believers who are Jews and who are raised from their graves and given new flesh and breath from the Lord as He comes to Mount Olivet fulfill this promise for a double portion in a truly literal way. There may be other resurrections occuring in the book of Revelation.
Elijah Whose Life on Earth Was in Two Segments Elijah is a type of the Jews. He pleased God, got victories, became discouraged, and witnessed the hand of God in answer to his requests. He ran, frightened, and received miracle food. Elijah seems to be a type of the Jew who will come to a time of complete fulfillment. Elijah will die a martyr's death, be gloriously raised, publicly vindicated as he arises where everyone can see it. Elijah will come and precede the Lord's coming as foretold. Elijah was told to anoint certain people and he did not do this which the Lord specifically asked him to do. We have a parallel inasmuch as the Jews did not proclaim Jesus as king. Enoch is the type of the believers caught up, never to die. Moses may prove to be one of the two witnesses, along with Elijah.
The Wise Shall Know In the Book of Daniel, we are told that in the end "the wise shall know." Also, we are told that there is nothing hidden that shall not be made manifest.

I posted this study, done in 1990s, a while back.
I have been studying Elijah and Elisha lately, October, 2021, and I am finding reasons to correct my earlier notes. I believe that Elijah is a type of the Body of Christ, that he was discouraged and suffered much, but that he experienced great victory in his later life, and that when he was caught up to heaven that he is like the believers.
Elijah knew he was to be caught up, and he was waiting and watching. Elisha is like the 144,000 Jewish evangelists of the final 7 years, and they will experience great things and lead many to the Lord. When the 144,000 see the Rapture of Christian believers they will realize what has happened.

Gehazi seems to be a very important type.
Gehazi is a type of those ministers who seek money or benefits for themselves, who devise methods to get what they want. Like Gehazi, the ministers who desire and seek wealth appear to be servants of God, but they are false and will be shown to be so.
After Elisha told Naaman he would accept nothing for Naaman's healing, Gehazi followed and asked Naaman to give him silver and garments. Gehazi's master, Elisha confronted Gehazi, and Gehazi became leprous and his descendants also. II Kings 5:22-23
