Scriptures: 1 Promises from Jesus that He will come for us; The Lord will take us up to Himself; Jesus shall meet believers in the air; Believers look for His appearing; Watch, watch for Jesus to come; Believers saved from wrath and delivered in the Rapture; He took them; Jesus shall come with His believers from heaven; Some doubt that He will take us; Some other encouragements: The 24 crowned Elders are in heaven when John is called up there
Promises from Jesus that He will come:
John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself;
John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
Isaiah 26:19-21 19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. 20 Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. 21 For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.
Psalm 50:4 He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people. Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.
Jesus shall meet believers in the air:
I Thess. 4:16-18 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
Believers look for His appearing:
Hebrews 9:27-28 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.
Titus 2:13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
II Tim. 4:8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
I Pet. 5:4 And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
Col. 3:4 When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
I John 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
Matthew 24:40-42, 40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. 42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
Matthew 25:13 Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.
Luke 12:40 - Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.
Hebrews 11:5 In such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
Mark 13:32-35 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning....
I Thess. 5:2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
Saved from wrath, delivered in the Rapture:
I Thess. 1:10 And to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.
I Thess. 5:9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.
II Thess. 2:13 But we ought to thank God always for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you, a firstfruit, for deliverance by the santicfication of the Spirit and belief of the truth.
Psalm 34:7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.
Ps. 31:20 Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.
Rev. 3:10 Because thou hast kept the word of My patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.
Psalm 27:5 For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in his pavilion, In the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
Jesus shall come with His believers from heaven:
Jude 1:14 And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints.
Philippians 3:20-21 20 For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
Rev. 19:11-16 11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
The Lord took them:
Gen. 5:24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him.
Gen. 19:16 And while he lingered, the men took hold of his hand, his wife’s hand, and the hands of his two daughters, the Lord being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city. [Lot was delivered.]
II Kings 2:11 Then it happened, as they continued on and talked, that suddenly a chariot of fire appeared with horses of fire, and separated the two of them; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
II Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished.
Some doubt that He will take us:
II Peter 3:3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
II Thessalonians 2:1-5 (Geneva Bible 1599) 1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our assembling unto him, 2 That ye be not suddenly moved from your mind, nor troubled neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter, as it were from us, as though the day of Christ were at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a departing first, and that that man of sin be disclosed, even the son of perdition. 4 Which is an adversary, and exalteth himself against all that is called God, or that is worshipped: so that he doth sit as God in the Temple of God, showing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
[The word translated "departing" was translated that way in several Bibles prior to the King James Version.]
Some other encouragements:
The 24 crowned Elders are in heaven when John is called up there:
Rev. 4:4 And round about the throne were four and twenty seats: and upon the seats I saw four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold.
Ps. 7:6-7 6 Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded. 7 So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high.
Psalm 50:15 Call upon Me in the day of trouble, and I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify Me.
II Tim. 4:1 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
II Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
Isa. 57:1 The righteous perisheth, and no man layeth it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.
Hebrews 10:19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,
I Cor. 3:11-15 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss; but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
Promises from Jesus that He will come:
John 14:3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself;
John 14:18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
John 14:28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father:
Revelation 22:20 Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
I suddenly realized that those last 10 words in the Bible are from Two Witnesses - the Lord Jesus and Saint John!
Here is the last promise in the Bible, and the last prayer!
The Lord will take us up to Himself:
Psalm 91:14 Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.Isaiah 26:19-21 19 Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Psalm 50:4 He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people. Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.
1 Corinthians 15:51-52 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
