I'm not a fan of cats, but if forced to own one, I'd want the one in the video (then again, maybe I wouldn't )

I love cats and have had cats fiercer than my dog. That cat deserves to be treated royally for the rest of his life. Note how after he chased the dog off, he went running back under the car to probably check on the kid.

Oh that's a good kitty! I would like to think more cats would defend their families. I have a cat who is an excellent hunter - frequently we find mice and birds on the porch. But he's a LOVER. Would he defend? I'm unsure. We have another lover kitty we brought home from the shelter years ago who went agro on our dog when we introduced them. Literally riding the dog like a bucking bronco! That dog was so terrified but it was the funniest thing! We named her "Ninja" as a result (she's a black kitty lol - she and the dog are since friends, but she still puts him in his place). I think she's more likely to defend against a stranger dog.
Usually this type of behavior is in dogs. But if a cat is all this family had and the Lord doesn't want anything untoward to happen to that boy, the Spirit of God will use a cat to protect him! Praise God! \O/

There's a cat that bonded well with his owners. That was fortunate that he came to the aid of that little child; God made such wonderful animals.

Sorry, Liz. I didn;t see that you had posted this already and just posted it. I'll ask Benjamin to remove mine. I would give that kitty a 'high five'. She looks just like my Peanut in the article that I posted. The video is on there too.

It wasn't my find Shiloh, John found it and posted it. I was surprised it wasn't one of your cats though, I'm sure you have them trained so well.

Good posts, everyone. I agree, pets with a strong bond with their owners can demonstrate some amazing things.

I saw an interview with the parents and that cat and little boy are very close. The cat followed them home one day from the park and they ended up adopting her. She would sleep with their little boy every night. They said they were very happy they adopted her. I can see why.

I was at an event today, and everyone was passing around and talking about this cat video. One guy even had it in slo-mo, so you could see Kitty's mad ninja skillz. I love this video and have asked my kitties if they would be that protective. They were silent. I will take that as an "of course we would, but we just aren't going to brag about our prowess." Sounds good to me.

I'd love to see a study done regarding the percentage of people who believe in the rapture and do not own cats vs. those who believe in the rapture and are cat owners. The percentage of cat owners on this board and RITAN has to be hovering around 80%, which I find interesting.

Does having multiple cats help improve the percentage?
I'm fairly sure if I were attacked by a dog, my cats would just sit there watching, thinking:
"What. Why are you looking at me like that."

hahahahaha..Benjamin, maybe they can team up together against a dog. Those parents said that they couldn't believe it because she's a real laid back cat. I should have said she adopted them instead of the other way around. Now, I'm postive when I walk in the kitchen at night and see my cats sittng in a circle, all huddled together, that they are having a meeting........I'm pretty sure it's about what kind of food they want next.

That cat video came on the news here too. I'm pretty sure it made the news all around the world at this rate. I feel kind of bad for the owners of the dog, but... they should have kept the dog in a secure place if it was violent. Maybe they did and the dog just escaped somehow.

I have 2 cats and 1 dog. We also babysit my son's dog while he and his wife are working so he's kind of half our dog. I'm pretty sure their dog is the only one who would jump to my defense if I needed it.

I've thought of that, Benjamin...they're plotting to kill me and take over the world...lol...that's why I tell them they're going to thrown into the outer darkness when they misbahave. That's true, John. I saw that on the news about this video going viral around the world. Over here, you have to make sure your dogs are secure either behind the fence with a gate and they have to be on a leash when being walked, which makes sense to me. The mother of that little boy said that dog had bitten her before too, just out of the blue. The dog was quarantined for 10 days and then put down.

That's sad that the dog was put down. It's also why I prefer cats. They're not as violent. I remember when I was a kid different dogs chasing me at different points in time. I don't think I was ever bitten like that by them, though.
I think our old dog kind of saved the day for me once. I remember when I was a kid I was at home alone (either because of holidays or home from school) and in the patio outside during the afternoon and then our dog was snooping around the gate, when suddenly someone opened it from the outside and she started all angry barking at whoever it was, and almost going to bite them. I didn't see who it was because they closed the gate as soon as the dog started doing it. But they didn't knock either beforehand. They just opened it. It made me think that maybe that was someone trying to sneak in to rob the house. It was definitely a stranger, because of all the fuss that the dog did. I was freaked out.
