First, the small a is on purpose. One thing has been bothering me about this upcoming meeting. First why would the Pope invite Peres when he has no power unless his power is to spread dissension. I also read an article that said the Pope wanted them to come to the Vatican hopefully before Peres term was up. Why would that matter if, as stated they are going to pray. What else could this trio be up to? I do not see one world religion here, does anyone else? Just what do you think they are up to?
Just thought of something else, hence the edit. Why would Peres even go with how the Pope dissed Israel?

Yeah, I hear ya on that, Rieom. I've had this gnawing feeling about that too. I'm still wondering about that. It's just not adding up in my mind. According to some articles I've read, it was said that the pope wanted to focus on interfaith...which would be a One World Religion. But, I can see what you're saying about the goal being dissension. I'd love to be a fly on the wall for THAT meeting.

Wasn't it Peres that made important deals with the Vatican in the past? If anyone will be viewed to be friendly to make a deal with, it will be seen to be Peres.
I think the Vatican will consider Peres stepping down as President of Israel, as a loss to themselves.

Peres does not have any real authority to act on anything with the pope. His position is one in name only, no power. I cannot wait to hear what comes of their time together.

Yeah. I wonder when we'll hear anything..or if we really will hear the truth. Peres isn't any good for Israel. The state of Israel is not his concern. I think he'd give Israel away in a heartbeat. But like Rieom said, he's a figurehead. Sort of like the Queen of England...unlike the olden days, now, she has no real power and it's Parliament (like our Congress) who has all the real power. I mean, she can weigh in but that doesn't mean anyone will listen to her...lol. In this case, Benjamin Netanyahu has the last word on everything...thank goodness.

The problem with Peres, Livni and officials of that mind set, is that they so want the World to like them...that is why they are so willing to hand over Israel, and being credited with the fact that they are "Truly Peacemakers". They are what I consider "Non-Jews", They have been around since God called out a people for His name..Israel...they are those that turn their backs on their own people and God will deal with them accordingly.

It really looks like so much dissension going on with Israel politics. Maybe they are really going after a Nobel Peace Prize.

Yeah, Livni's another one. Do you think that is what Jesus was referring to in Revelation where He addressed one of the churches (Philadelphia) and said, "I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, but are liars--I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have loved you." (Revelation 3:9)? Or does that have a different meaning? Also, what ARE the seven spirits of God?

Shiloh, I did not know the answers to your questions but I read a really good commentary on Revelation. It is online at: Commentary on Revelation by Herbert Melville Munson Jr.
His answer to the question about the Jews in this verse is found in Romans 2:28-29.
As for the seven spirits, This is what Herbert says:

I don't know if those answers are correct but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

It is long but really good. My favorite part was his commentary on chapter 21. If you only have time for one chapter, read that one. Also, the author says he lives in Texas but I think he must have spent time in Australia. When he writes he sometimes says Aye? What's that all about.

LOL, I don't know. Do they say Aye in Australia? I always thought that was a pirate thing. We'll have to ask Benjamin.
