Animals do sense when something is wrong..I thought this so amazing, but sad that they sensed danger and were frightened. I just love Elephants, they are one of God's greatest creations on Earth I believe.
Arutz Sheva Amazing Footage Shows How Elephants React to Air Raid Sirens Amazing instinct kicks in for herd of elephants at Ramat Gan's 'Safari' zoo.
With the increased range of rockets fired by Hamas and Islamic Jihad from the Gaza Strip, Israel's major population centers in the center of the country are firmly within their reach. Just this morning, several rockets were intercepted over Tel Aviv by Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system; yesterday, rockets were fired as far north as the port city of Haifa - the furthest Gaza terrorists have ever been able to reach. And it's not just millions of people at risk.
A remarkable video from the Safari zoo in the city of Ramat Gan, which borders Tel Aviv, shows how animals, too are being forced to cope with the onslaught. In the footage, a herd of elephants can be seen reacting to air raid sirens by quickly forming a tight unit around their young.
The scene was captured by zookeeper Sagit Horovitz, who said she chose to stay behind - in a safe place -as people rushed to find shelter.
She said that although the elephants obviously did not know what was going on, they sensed that something was amiss.
"First of all, they sensed something they are not familiar with - a noise which they do not usually hear... and then they hear the very loud 'boom'... Their instinct is to come together and protect the herd."
"What was beautiful to see was that this was done without any regard for 'social status' within the group," she pointed out.
"You can see that there is one elephant that is standing a bit further away from the others at the beginning, but she moves towards the rest and they all accept her, despite the fact that in general she is a bit of an outsider and doesn't involve herself with the others.
"It's as if in a time of crisis... it's like neighbors in the same building; everyone gets together in the bomb shelter even if they are not best friends. Something unites during difficult times," Horovitz said.
"The most heartwarming aspect of it was that they gathered together in a way that specifically protects the calves. Of course they don't actually understand what is going on - but they know something not quite right is happening and their instinct is to gather together and protect each other, and more than anything to protect their children."

Oh my! I've never heard them make that noise before. Elephants are very intelligent creatures and they show emotion and actually shed tears. I love elephant too and I want some of those in heaven. I believe there will be all of God's creation there and He loves all of His creation. Did you happen to see the article and video where an elephant in India was shackled for 50 years? He was shackled with spikes and the owner beat him, ripped out hair from his tail to sell as good luck charms, starved him to the point of being reduced to eating plastic, etc. I was in tears when I saw that. Then, a team of 10 Veteranarians along with authorities caught word of it and went in there. The owner was a drug addict and tried to shut down the road but the authorites and Vets stood their ground. The elephant somehow knew he was being saved. He was very docile when they loaded him onto the truck and he shed tears. The Vets said they were all choking back tears because it was as if he knew he was finally free after 50 years and being taken from his mother as a baby. It took them some hours to get the shackles off because the spikes would dig into his skin on his legs. Needless to say, the team was exhausted but very happy. He's now in a sanctuary and roaming free. Whoever says that animals don't have emotions is crazy.

Oh Shiloh, that story about the elephant in India nearly had me in tears. How sad, but I'm so glad that poor elephant was freed. I really hope all the animals end up in heaven, or on the new earth when it is created.

I am choking back tears right now. How could someone to that to a defenseless animal? Thank you for the article, Morningstar. Very touching to see and read about the elephants, how they protect each other. I marvel at God's creation.

Oh, MS, that was so sweet how the elephants were protecting each other and especially the babies. Imagine having the keen sense that they do!

I think someone needs to shackle this guy and tear out chunks of his hide and make him eat plastic. Grrrrrr! That is all. Wait, that isn't all. God bless those vets that rescued Mr. Elephant and loved him up. And prayers for the man who treated this animal in such horrific ways. Let the scales fall from his eyes and his heart be softened, ready for the Gospel and the Christ Who can save him. OK. That is all.

I believe people will pay for their actions, in the sense that even if they are saved there will be loss of rewards. I would think someone who is saved would not act in such a likely manner, whether it be against humans or beasts. Wouldn't you think the Holy Spirit would convict them immediately? I have to confess, I find it hard to pray for people who abuse children, the young or old and all people along with those who abuse animals. But, the Lord knows that and I confess to Him that I find it difficult and that I only pray because He commands us to pray for our enemies. He already knows that about me, so it's not like I could hide that from Him anyway. Anyone who abuses God's creation is my enemy.

I hear you, Shiloh. It is very, very hard.
Also, the Holy Spirit convicts believers (don't I know it!), but I also believe there are Christians that have become calloused and have pushed the HS so far back into the recesses of their heart, that they ignore Him and ignore His warnings, and when He grieves. That is the only way I can even wrap my head around believers who think abortion is OK, and that God does, too. They also PROMOTE it as good. Talk about Isaiah 5:20!
Isaiah 5:20 (NASB) Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness; Who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!
Yes, these Christians who have backslid so far that they have embraced darkness, will be ones that lose rewards--and will be very surprised. Now those who call themselves Christian, and are merely deceiving themselves, will also be very surprised. **shudder**
Back to the world-loving, Holy Spirit-ignoring Christian: They will be disciplined in some way. Like a good Father does, He will chastise them. Sometimes He even takes them to the woodshed--big time . Sometimes He strips them bare, so that all they have are the shredded scraps of their faith they disassembled and buried in the deep recesses of their heart. This is when He will pull them to Himself, and they will grieve. Often, when this happens to backsliders, they become the most "on fire" for Christ out there. I think when you get pulled out of the muck you caused yourself by turning away, and you come to the realization that our Father never gave up on you, and that the Holy Spirit never left you through all your ickyness, it is the most humbling thing! When you feel His mercy, His grace, and His love just flooding through you, it is a life-changing!
Sorry, for the tangent, Sis. I doubt that drug-addled elephant abuser man is a believer, but no one is beyond redemption. I say this for those of you who are lurking out there, maybe mocking this site-- it is NOT too late for you! God loves YOU so much that He took all YOUR transgressions against GOD (all sins are committed against GOD) and nailed them on the cross to die with Christ! The blood of Christ covers every single icky moment in your life! No matter how icky! He wants YOU to place your trust and faith in HIM. He is calling YOU to follow Him. To give Him your burdens, your desires, your worries, your sickness, your fear, YOUR HEART. And here is the most amazing thing: once you are HIS, once you are in His Hand, He will never let you go. NEVER EVER. The very moment that you recognize you are a sinner in need of forgiveness and in desperate need of the Savior, and YOU place your life in the Hands of Christ turning it over to Him, you become a CHILD OF GOD. And nothing can change that, because at that very moment, the Lord sends to you His Holy Spirit who is with you forever! Awesomesauce!
So, Lurker, you may think you have stumbled on this site by accident, by your own curiosity, or even to make fun of this site, but it is possible that GOD brought you here, so you would seek Him. He is loves you so much! He is calling to you NOW. Will you listen??

Especially the part where you say that anyone who abuses God's creation is your enemy. I feel the same way with people who curse the Lord and reject Him. Shelayne, I agree with you as well. Very insightful! So true.

Your not alone in this Shiloh, that is one thing I find very difficult to do and I do ask the Lord to help me in this. It's a natural instinct I think to react that way.

Shiloh, Leeza and Morningstar, I feel the same way too. We can pray for our enemies, but it's by the grace of God.
