I have a question on this verse.
2 Thessalonians 2:11 (NIV) For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie.
I read JD Farag every week and I thought he wrote a good sermon this week. (www.calvarychapelkaneohe.com/index.php/2014-05-13-17-18-08/teachings/sermon/11026-prophecy-update-2014-09-14). . He is saying that the delusion talked about in the above verse is now coming into action with O's latest speech. I really thought the delusion was already here with everyone thinking the Palestinians are being wronged and Israel is the "occupier".
So what is your take on this?

This is referring to the antichrist. In the verses before, Paul says: He is referring to all those who are upon the earth after the Rapture, that have rejected Christ as Lord and Saviour. They will believe the AC is the the Saviour. The "spirit of antichrist" is alive and well even back then but the AC is a man. I believ O has an antichrist "spirit" but he is NOT the AC.

That's what I also understand. There have been many speculations about that verse, and just to add, I think that the way the world is now viewing evil as good, and good as evil is a prime example of how they will be accepting the AC and believing his lies, for that will be a great delusion.

Ok that makes sense but really, it seems as if delusion is already here to me in a sense and perhaps not on the same level it will be when the AC gets here.

1 John 2:
It's worth noting that 2 Thessalonians isn't talking about *a* lie, but *THE* lie.
"Who is a liar, but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ?" "even now, many antichrists have come - and by that, we know that this is the last hour"
You're absolutely right - that the spirit of antichrist is at work in the world even now - but that the lie that is to come is just that: THE lie - that "Jesus is not the Christ - I am". This will be the lie from the mouth of Antichrist himself.

That is it exactly, I liked the way you worded that Benjamin...

Okay, lets see if I have it straight. Thess is talking about the big "lie" (which I like it put this way, it fits). This does not mean delusion is not already in play on the earth but it is not the BIG delusion that is coming.

Interesting comments, everyone. I always thought it meant that the big "lie" was going to be the anti-christ's explanation of why millions of people disappeared after the rapture. You know, like we were taken out of this world because we are evil, which will help the antichrist to set up the New World Order. With those "pesky, deluded" Christians out of the way, then it will be easier for the anti-christ to set the world up for his agenda, to where he can tell people anything and they will believe him. You know, like Jesus never rose from the dead, Jesus is not God, taking the mark on the hand and forehead is "good thing" for everybody. Things like that.

This does not mean delusion is not already in play on the earth but it is not the BIG delusion that is coming. I think that's correct. ...and, if you think about it, you couldn't have THE lie, without the delusion already preparing the way. This is both something that has become cultural, and societal, and it's something that will be a more concrete preparation. I believe that the False Prophet's role is to prepare the way for the Beast, just as John the Baptist did for Jesus. I think that his role and 'ministry' will mirror John the Baptist's more than many of us realize.

So if the FP prepares the way, he should be on the scene now as all this is going down. Interesting that you believe the FP's "ministry" will mirror John the Baptist's. It is an intriguing thought to chew on.

I agree with that theory. Just as John the Baptist prepared the way for the Lord, the FP will prepare the way for the AC. Satan has always tried to mimic God and the Holy Trinity except these are the "unholy" trinity.

It is an intriguing thought to chew on. I think he is on the scene. That's not to say that I know who he is - I think he'll receive supernatural empowerment during the Tribulation, so he wouldn't necessarily be recognisable to us now - but I think he's here... somewhere.

I believe he's on the scene too. Could it be the pope? I don't know. Everyone, even those who have no faith love this guy. Whoever he is, he will be a "religious" figure and unite all faiths. We may even be here to see who he is but we won't be here to see who the AC is.

I think it is someone most people will trust. Right now, most Christians do not trust the pope but then we will be gone anyway. The pope seems to be displaying anti-God practices now that is for sure. We have a few evil candidates for both end-time slots in history. I do not think at this moment anyone is the AC but will be changed when the time is right.
