Does anyone know the meaning of 1 Kings 19:11-13?

"Be still, and know that I am God."
It's a reminder not to always look for God in miracles, in big things - in the earthquake, the fire and the flood - ...but to seek Him in stillness, and hear His voice in the quiet. God doesn't have to roar at His own. "My sheep hear me, and they know my voice."

Maybe the Lord was saying to Elijah, yes, I could force them worship Me… I could destroy them in minutes. By the way, there are 7000 in Israel who have not bowed the knee to Baal. Oh, you have done a good job, but I've got this!
There is a final plan to all this, and you will see it!
This is taking nothing away from Elijah, I would not stand in his shadow. So this is just my thoughts.

Thank you both. There is a lot of information in this chapter. It seems to me that this chapter shows us how the God of the universe cares so much about every detail of our lives.

Right. God was telling Elijah that often His voice does not come in a loud thunderous roar, but is often that still, quiet voice within us. It wasn't the earthquake, etc. that cause Elijah to cover his face, it was the still, quiet voice of Go within him.
