Any ideas as to what King David is saying in Psalm 27:13. The NASB translation says: "I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Not sure what your question is but I went and read the chapter - so beautful isn't it! I read it as saying amongst the ugliness of life, foes he will see the goodness from the Lord amongst all the bad. As we see today in the ugliness of the news and stuff we still see God amongst the bad. A man rescuing a child, the homeless fed, people helping people....the little lights that gives us hope in the darkness. 'The goodness of the Lord in the land of the living' = seeing the goodness of God in life. Not sure what you were asking - hope this helped?

Thanks gr8tful. It was the phrase "land of the living" that I was questioning.

My understanding of the "land of the living" to mean, "in this lifetime".

That does make sense. The proceeding verse is talking about his foes. So with what you are saying, I take this verse to mean that King David expected to see the Lord's protection from those foes in this lifetime. Then the next verse says to wait on the Lord.
