Would like to know all your thoughts on this. As we know, some day we will be with the Lord, forever, for all eternity. Which means FOREVER....no end....no expiration, always, our mind can't even comprehend forever honestly. Forever is a really long time times super duper long time times to infinity and beyond for real!!! So with that established I would like to know what your thoughts are on what it is we will be doing during forever. What are your thoughts, what does scripture say, what do you imagine, hope for, think.....it boggles the mind, I know. And I know we've all thought about this many times.
So....how do you imagine it will be like? I know we can only imagine in view of our own knowledge and what is familiar and what we can relate to. Is there a scripture or 2 that you think explains some of it. I'm just curious to know everyone's thoughts on this subject.

The Bible isn't clear on that. The only verse I can think of off hand is 1 Corinthians 2:9 . We will be kings and priests. As far as imagining what we will do, I believe with all of my heart that it will be the gifts of the Holy Spirit that were bestowed upon us. But, they will be used to the fullest extent. Doctors and nurses will be out of jobs as well as many others, yet everyone has a gift or gifts (some have more than one) even though they themselves do not recognize them or it. This is where Liz and I disagree b/c I believe the gifts of the Holy Spirit are fully operational. It's just that some make a mockery of them with healing, etc. Personally, I think that's mocking the Holy Spirit and what a fearful thing to do. All of God's children have gifts. It is easy for me to spot a gift in a believer even though they, themselves may not recognize it. These are gifts where encouragement comes in so that they can utilize their gift/s. These are very Holy gifts and should not be discarded or mocked. You can tell a fake from the genuine. Wow. I really got off track there, didn't I?!

I believe in the gifts also, for today. I don't think they were done when the apostles left. Jesus said we do even more than He did...but I do believe the whole gospel as well as the gifts got soooo watered down over the yrs and so lost and governed by man that it's pretty much unrecognizable. And yes, so many have turned it into money, greed and power that it has turned it into a joke or scam/sham! There is very few legitimate teachers, preachers and people who 'move in the Spirit' faithfully simply because of the label that gets put on you. When the Lord moves on someone and they listen and obey and do that which He is calling them to do...it is usually quietly w/o a lot of fanfare or audience to give man the praise. All praise goes the Lord.
But, are you saying you also think we'll be moving fully in the gifts of the Spirit when were w/the Lord forever? Cuz i'm not sure if the gifts will be needed at that time. There won't be sickness, oppression, depression, and all that. But at the same time, that's a cool thought and makes sense that we will be completely filled w/the Holy Spirit or one w/Him....hmmmm, I will have to think about that - thanks for you input!!

That's exactly where I was coming from, gr8tful. It's these preachers who get up there and make a mockery of them. I think we will minister to those in the Millennium with a full, joyful knowledge of the Lord. We will love our jobs and joyfully do them for the Lord. Nothing like a tedious thing we have now.

Good thoughts, Gr8tful and Shiloh. Yeah, the scripture about us kings and priests....always wondered how we are going to be doing that? I mean, how does that work? Sounds so grand and exalted, doesn't it? And the part about us judging angels? I always wondered if everyone is going to be doing that, or only those with crowns?
I definitely believe in the gifts of the Spirit....but I also believe in this age of deception, we have to have our spiritual antennas turned up because there are too many phony baloneys out there. Like Shiloh, I can also tell when someone is a fake or genuine. That is a gift of discernment. The reason I know that it is a gift because I sure didn't have it before! I was a trusting dupe and was swayed by every wind of doctrine. But after the Lord gave me discerning of spirits, I started to see the difference and got out of those false doctrine churches and started getting serious in studying the scriptures until the Lord gave me a good foundation to hang my hat on. I can also tell if a pastor/evangelist is teaching right doctrine or if they are deceiving or fleecing the sheep for their own personal gain.
Yeah, I sure did take this off track, didn't I?
Anyway, I always pictured myself during the millennium taking care of animals in a shelter. (Or is there going to be animals in a shelter?) Well, if there are, I am going to spoil those little cuties! Like Shiloh's MIL said, I would squeeze the lopsided weasels out of them, lol!!!

First, I want to say that I just someone knocking on my door. I looked out the window first and saw no one. I thought maybe a package was delivered and the delivery man knocked to let me know. Well, no one was at the door. How do you like them apples?
I have thought of what we will be doing in heaven many times. I think a great many of us are goal oriented. There has to be a purpose and an effort to work toward that purpose. I do not know if that will change in heaven or not but it seems reasonable for me to assume there will be goals that we will be meeting.
I think God will have plans for each one of us according to our gifts and talents. We will be happy in what we are given to do. It may very well mirror gifts we had on earth. For example, I am better serving and other behind the scenes work. Others are better at being leaders and teaching. It will be interesting to see what really happens.
I agree that many assume they have a gift of the spirit here on earth when in fact they do not. I think that trouble happens when man wants a certain gift of the spirit and assumes that he has that. I think it takes spiritual maturity and even years to know what your gifts are.

I had an interesting thought today, actually a very touching one. I was thinking about Leeza and 'going home'. And I thought about Heaven and what it will be like we get there. I thought how beautiful it will be for Leeza, who will finally have the one thing she hasn't had yet, a family, a great big loving family!!! That will be hers!! Then I thought wow, all of us will be gaining things we just never received here!! The blind will see for the first time and see beauty, the lame will walk, the one w/a abusive or missing father will have the Father they always wanted and then some! Just think about what it is you have always needed but never got...you will have it poured out on you there!!! Of course I am not talking about material things mind you! How awesome our God is and how very loving! We will be so complete!

I always think it's funny when people try to describe eternity. We always use time-based terms to explain it, but that in and of itself is a completely misleading avenue of thought. Eternity isn't "lots of time", it's being timeLESS.
We literally have no idea what that will look or feel like, because none of us have ever been outside of time - we can't even comprehend what it might be like, because we have no frame of reference to think from.
What does that mean, practically, in terms of our future in Christ? I have absolutely no idea.

This subject has always been fascinating to me....because we can only guess and wonder what it would be like. I finally made a study on this and found some really interesting insights from Charles Larkin's book of Dispensational Truth, and he is by far the only one who has made sense as to the possibility of what Eternity might be like. I could share it here on this thread, or maybe put it on a new thread. I wrote this down a few years back because I didn't want to rely on my memory to piece it together....(I could just see Shiloh, banging her head and pulling her hair out going uhhhhhhhhhhhhh.LOL)...Anyway, if you want me to I'll post it, just let me know, believe me it will make you think.

Came across this and can't believe we didn't take MS up on her offer to post the study she wrote down!!! MS, please, if it's not too late, would you still post it? Would love to read it!! Could truly use something like that right now, honestly. And this is a topic I so enjoy thinking about! Really enjoyed reading Leeza's posts re: this subject!

All right. Who is the most apt librarian among us? Teri, this is an ancient thread document -- almost a year old, and we're honestly a bit impressed. How many of these written multilogues could be generated and stored in a thousand years of our administration of earth with Christ on the throne? Okay, how about a much smaller scale... How many posts do you guess PostRaptureForum.net will create, say in the first three and one half years, i.e., at mid-trib, as we blurt out what's happening down here? None? Oh, you mean we may not be interested in Heaven's network or even possess external communication devices at the Wedding Supper? How droll and dreary! What good is life without flexible and personal messages delivered instantly by network devices? You mean we'll sit at table and actually enjoy speaking in some verbal breath-based language to others sitting across from us?
Okay, so down here it's "...first we kill all the lawyers!" Up there we'll kill all those network servers which, pretending to free us down here, have actually stolen our peace and freedom. Accomplishing tasks really quickly will lose all its appeal! No?
I shudder to think what we might actually accomplish if we are granted capabilities to communicate telepathically...

hahaaaaa..."Okay, so down here it's "...first we kill all the lawyers!" I really laughed at that one, Dan. That's so true and I also agree with all of you. I like what Benjamin said...."Eternity isn't "lots of time", it's being timeLESS." I don't understand why people don't get that but it's beyond our human capacity. After all, we re all merely human and no words can describe what is in store for us. Outside of our time we have no concept because we hve noting to compare it with. I wouldn't have clicked on this thread until you just updated it, Dan. Funny how some threads revive themselves, isn't it? All it takes is a new post and you want to read the input or after thoughts. I DO believe that in every way that we will be able to communicate telepathically if we choose to, but I also believe we will be able to literally speak to one another verbally. Does that make any sense? In other words we'll have both.

Wow, I can't believe we missed that either. MS, I'd love to read your study - please do post it; preferably both here and in the contributions section!

Dan, you are a crack up!! Thanks for keeping things real, yet light!! Sometimes I like to go back just to see if there's something we were discussing that with time gone by, we now know if this or that happened as we were discussing it might. But I saw this and had to repost! And yes, MS, I sure hope you post that! But first hope you check out this thread!

Yeah. I'd really like to apprehend a little the concept "timeless." Even communicating a single sentence or even a word to someone would require so many seconds to elapse. An "instantaneous" telepathy message would have to include some time element. All information passage that we're familiar with takes some amount time regardless of the bandwidth available to deliver the information within. Maybe there's an infinite bandwidth available for us to employ, but I suspect we'll still have limitations on what can be expressed.
At least those are the basics of our current spacetime information theory limits.

The whole timeless concept is truly something we will never grasp as long as we are here, in all our flesh! No matter how much we can imagine it, it just can't even resemble what that is really like! It use to scare me to think we would live forever, no end, becuz my mind just couldn't wrap around what that could possibly even mean. What would we be doing FOREVER!! Again, absolutely no end. That is mind boggling! I now realize that what I can't understand will make sense once there. I imagine at that time, the thought of having an end would seem odd.
I'm glad you guys always mention that 1000 yr reign on earth. For some reason, I have never really given that much thought as to what we would be doing. I always think of being in Heaven, with the Lord, worshipping, being in awe and that sort of thing.
So communicating at that time is interesting. I would think telepathically or whatever it will be called as well as speaking. Do you think there will still be many languages? If so, how cool as we would probably be able to speak all of them!
