Times of Israel Syrian Christians sign treaty of submission to Islamists
Threatened by al-Qaeda-affiliated extremists, community in northern city of Raqqa chooses ‘dhimmitude’ over conversion or death
Christian leaders in the northern Syrian city of Raqqa, captured by an organization formerly affiliated with al-Qaeda, have signed a submission document this week banning them from practicing Christianity in public in return for protection by their Islamist rulers.
The document, dated Sunday and disseminated through Islamist Twitter accounts, states that the Christian community in the province of Raqqa, captured last March by the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), was recently given three options: to convert to Islam; to remain Christian but pledge submission to Islam; or to “face the sword.” They opted for the second of those choices, known as dhimmitud

Talk about persecution! People in China have been in prison for years along with them being beaten because of their Christian faith. I have to say this. I have thought "what would I do?" on many occasions. There was an article I read where a woman in Syria was forced to hold her little boy on her lap and they wanted her to denounce her faith. She didn't and they killed her little boy. The Rebels in Syria shot and killed a whole village of Christian women and children. They lined them up and shot them. I wish I would have never seen those pictures because they still haunt me. There were little baby girls in pink dresses and little boys in blue outfits laying dead in a heap of mud and they all looked like little dolls except for the gunshot wounds. I will never forget those images. Truth is, if I had a small child, I would probably go underground. I would like to say that I would be real brave and let my small child get killed, but to be honest, I don't know. However, I would never denounce my faith. I couldn't go that route either. In turn, what would any of you do?

To be honest, I'm surprised, they didn't just outright slaughter the Christians. These are murderous thugs.
I believe God always gives you the strength to do, what you need to do. He can also make, a way of escape.
I don't tend to worry about hypothetical situations - that was a lesson I learned from the Lord.

I agree with that, Elizabeth. I thought about that as I was typing my response last night.

It is LS, very thought provoking....I can't imagine what these poor people have to go through, and by what means some of them are tortured, but there is so much hatred in these muslims It's a wonder to me that they don't recognize that this hatred is coming from Satan. Praying that the Lord give them strength & courage and that they may feel His presence at all times.
