So... Shiloh asked today when the surgery is for Jade. Apparently I haven't kept people in the loop! Jade went to Melbourne with my wife this week for surgery, while Alanah and I stayed here. The surgery itself was on Tuesday, and was a complete suggess. There was always the possibility that the surgery wouldn't work; that the patch to close the hole in her heart wouldn't adhere well enough (because the hole is near the corner of one of the atria). That doesn't seem to have happened - the surgeons were very happy with the way the surgery went, and were happy with her progress afterward.
The turnaround from surgery to normalcy was pretty amazing, too. Jade was pretty subdued and tired after the surgery itself, but I think this was more the result of the anaesthetic than anything else. The next day, she was pretty much back to normal, happy and up and around, and so on.
So, ultimately... everything went about as well as it could have. We're all very grateful to the Lord - we really are.
Regarding the secondary issue that was uncovered (Tuberous Sclerosis) - we won't know whether she actually has that until mid-January.

Benjamin, thank you for that update. Thanking the Lord that all went well, and will keep Jade in my prayers for the January outcome. It is a blessed thing to be able to put ALL things in His Hands according to His Will. God bless you and your family.

Thank you for updating us, Benjamin. I am so greatful to the Lord for hearing all of our prayers. What beautiful names, Alana and Jade. I will continue to pray for a speedy recovery and for Jade's diagnosis. I'll be praying for mom and dad too. I'm sure this has been exhausting for both of you also.

Benjamin, how is Jade's recovery coming along? I know she'll have to go back for follow-ups and progress reports. Still keeping her, Alana and both you and your wife and grandma (Anne) in my prayers. I'm praying Alanah's diagnosis turns out well. I know you won't find out until mid-January. I hope the little ones had a good Christmas too.

Sounds like I've confused you...
Jade's recovery is fine, she's absolutely back to normal. It's Jade that could have Tubular Sclerosis, too... she's had scans for that, which have found nothing so far - which means she's safe as far as the disease is concerned, but still doesn't answer whether or not she has it. We'll find that out in mid-January, when her blood tests etc. get back.
Alanah doesn't have any health issues. She's noisy, but the doctors can't do much about that.

Oh! Okay. I got it now. That really made me laugh about the being noisy and the doctors can't do anything about that. Been there done that, for certain. That's little girls for ya but there IS light at the end of the tunnel. Trust me, the DO quiet down as they grow. Our daughter was a tomboy and always yapping. You would never know it from the looks of her or if you saw how she is now. I am so thankful she loves the Lord, studies and shares the Word on her Face Book and also with others she encounters. Now, she's shockingly calm and quiet.
