Thanks, Morningstar! I also grew up 15 minutes from the beach...those were wonderful times. I miss the ocean now. Not too much waterfront property in Colorado.
This is a fun thread that brings back so many memories. Elizabeth, I didn't listen to much Bach as a kid but I love him now. That's beautiful

Shiloh, Michael Buble's "Home" is pretty much my favourite song ever. Koorine (my wife) and I had his music played by an acoustic non-vocal duo (classical guitar + violin) at our wedding.
That, and this song, which nobody has ever heard of (it was on the soundtrack for 'Scrubs' once, and the film clip was shot by Zach Braff, the main character in 'Scrubs'):

That's a beautiful song! Hey, we just got done watching 3 episodes of SCRUBS today. We're only still on the first season. Our son and his wife had that song by Coldplay called Yellow but they had the instrumental version that she walked down the aisle to and then later in the evening, they played the one with the words. I had just gotten that song out of my head after 2 weeks and then it started all over again after that. That drives me nuts when I can't get a song out of my head!

Nana....I know what you mean, I went from Ocean to Desert...cactus, lizards and rocks...but beautiful sunsets and night skies.
Benjamin, I really liked his singing, never heard of him before but has a soothing voice, also the Boyz & Men..never heard of them either but great music.
Liz, I also like Bach, but then again I love classical music, and opera..beautiful music.

Shiloh, I've found Oesch's die Dritten works wonders to "cleanse the palate" so to speak, when one gets a song like "Yellow" stuck in ones memory.

Ugh. I never thought I'd have to do this, but...
I'm with LS on this one. Coldplay are an inhuman abomination.

Jim, I must slap you silly! I had never heard of Coldplay before. That's the only song of theirs I've ever heard. I guess I'm sheltered too, so don't feel bad, Margaret. The instrumental version by The Vitamin Quartet is very pretty, though.

I sort of like that song, Yellow. I remember this one when I was growing up. This is dedicated to you, Benjamin, knowing how much you love a lot of rhyming poetry and Country music. This is why my generation grew up so messed up.

Coldplay are an inhuman abomination. Whaaaaa....?!LOL. Well, I actually liked their older songs when I was in high school especially. "Yellow" was one of them. I know some lyrics are kind of random, but... that's a little harsh. I agree with Shiloh, that "Closer" song is pretty cool.
... "and they were all yellow." Lololol
EDIT: Shiloh, is that... an actual song or a parody they did?

LOL, John! Thanks for defending me against these vicious attacks. That's an actual song of theirs. It's on youtube and the instrumental version by The Vitamin Quartet is very pretty too.

Vicious, vicious attacks! Lololol. Is this it? It's a lovely version! I can picture a lovely and slightly energetic wedding dance to the sound of this version too.
I was asking about the song you just shared. The one about the birds. Lol, it's such a goofy song so I was unsure if it's an actual song or a parody.

Yeah, that's the one, John. That's the version my son's wife walked down the aisle to. The other one (The Tennessee Birdwalk) was an actual song too. lol

Shiloh!!! ... LOL ... Where on earth did you find that country song (I know, youtube)? I don't recall that song at all, thankfully

Jim, you never heard that? LOL. They used to play that on the radio all the time in the early 1970s. Boy! You just don't know what you missed out on! hahahaha....and what made matters worse is they'd play it every five minutes. That's why I decided to switch over to Pink Flloyd...which still haunts me 'til this day. I actually went to a Pink Flloyd concert and some guy threw up all over me after eating a Big Mac and fries.

How on earth do people come up with rubbish like that?
"Take away the trees and the birds will have to walk along the ground / take away their wings and the birds will have to walk to get around..."
That's... I just...
huh?

Boy, I'll tell ya. Some people just don't have any appreciation for the musical arts. Maybe they were referring to chickens....hahahaha...I told you that's why my generation was all messed up. I strictly blame it on that song.

..if it makes you feel any better, I used to have this on a record, sung by Tommy Steele:

hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa..well, at least that one's cute! Plus, you were little and had an excuse. Anything about mice as in songs or movies is cute. That sounds like a song I would have sung to my kids when they were little.
Here's a little scene from Mouse Hunt. It's so sweet because he's using tissue as a little blanket. By the way, the mouse wins in the end and is a little partner in business with the guys who were trying to kill him.

Wow! I don't know where to begin It must've been a regional thing with the continual playing of that song. Listening to the radio was a very important part of my life back in the late 60s thru the 70s (still is but now I'm listening to radio preaching / teaching instead of Rock music), so I wouldn't have missed that unusual song. Now, regarding the Big Mac and fries: I'll bet you haven't eaten a Big Mac or McD fries since that incident! Finally, is it the music of Pink Floyd that still haunts you, or is it the association of that music with a partially digested Big Mac and fries that does the haunting?

Shiloh, I think you have traumatized the lot of us by posting that horrible Bird Song. That had to be one of the most hated songs on the radio, I don't know what ever made you think of it. Your posting it did make me laugh though.

Looks like we need some new old songs!
Although, I still think everyone should give another listen to that Tennessee Birdwalk song. It still has playability value. "Chirp chirp."

Here's an oldie, it used to be on the radio when I was in elementary school. I used to dream of being an adult and going downtown, and living downtown.

They played that song to death here, Elizabeth, I even recall my dad complaining that he was sick of hearing it at the time

A little of both, Jim. However, the Big Mac and fries wins hands down as far as nauseating. Liz, I always liked that song. My sister used to sing into the fan while it was on and she sounded just like her. Too long to explain. Don't ask. MS, I love your avatar - the slain Lamb of God. That was a clever play on words, girl.... with the word Nauseating. I'm a little nauseated myself after visiting other sites. Too much drama for me..... and I end up feeling like....

Shiloh, maybe you should take Elizabeth's advice and visit downtown instead. Lol, speaking of downtown, I think at least someone here may know this song, it's from the year 2000 I think:
Makin' my way downtown.. Lololol

It wasn't a song I remember with great fondness, but it is certainly part of my childhood. I also remember it getting a lot of airplay, it must have been a number 1 hit. Edit to add: Shiloh and John, you have me doubled over in laughter. You are both so funny. Shiloh, my sisters and I used to sing into hair brushes. We never thought of fans but now that you mention them, I can see the potential. I guess we were just slow learners.

Yes! The hairbrushes...hahaha..oh, I am laughing so hard! We did that too. Those made pretty good mics. Then, we graduated to curling irons in the 70s....the more sophisticated microphones. The big fans, when running, are great if you want that vibrato sound.

Shiloh, I'm amazed you didn't grow up to be a bigtime Hollywood sound engineer. You have missed your calling, girl. We also graduated from hairbrushes to curling irons. Oh the adolescence of young girls.
