I read an article (link below) just now that states Abbas gave a speech to the PLO Apparently he sees no reason why the peace talks cannot continue. He is willing to continue if Israel meets the demands of prisoner release, right of return of the settlers and descendants or monetary compensations and putting settlements on hold. He will not recognize Israel as a state either.
But what I found humorous was his statement "I reject violence and terrorism and I respect international agreements". If any of us asked who this statement belonged to, I do not think we would think of Abbas. I put this on the General Discussion Board because I want to know if you think Israel will come back to the table. I would like to think not but stranger things have happen.

I have to admit, I didn't even see the Hamas / PA reconciliation coming in the first place... so, will Israel return to the table? I can't see it happening, honestly, but given the fact that I was blindsided by Hamas, who knows?
That aside... I can't see it happening because Israel has marked Hamas as a terrorist organisation. Perhaps, if Hamas were to publicly renounce violence, some progress might be made, but I can't really see that happening either, even for the sake of political advantage. I think if Abbas had any real intention of negotiating peace with Israel, this is a step he would never have taken.

I am hoping Israel will not go back to the table with them. However, the US will not take much persuading to go along with Abbas and call this all Israel's fault.

I also don't see it happening, the only reason Abbas is doing this is to get the Prisoner's released and that is his only motive. Netanyahu knows this, and I have to agree with you both in that Hamas as a terrorist org. would be a big block in the way of peace negotiations with Israel, and also the fact that in the long run Israel will be the one blamed for not going forward with the Peace talks. But who knows, whichever way it goes rest assured it is part of God's plan for Prophetic fulfillment.

I read an article last night where the PA is now claiming they are willing to recognize Israel (how kind of them). Gieven the dealings with them that Israel has had in the past, I don't see a sudden trust. I'm not surprised at the reconciliation between the PLO and Hamas because that would line right up with Psalm 83. Terrorist factions will be involved and unite against Israel. Didn't Hamas and Fatah (or Fatwah) recently just have a reconciliation agreement also? I hope I'm not straying too far off topic but this is what I'm talking about: Psalm 83 verses Ezekiel 38 www.raptureready.com/soap/psalm83-2.html The next link includes a list of the Psalm 83 players along side of a list who they were in Biblical times: www.wnd.com/2012/08/which-nations-does-psalm-83-really-include/

Actually, the Palestinians have said that the unity deal with Hamas does call for recognising Israel as a nation. Lol, of course it does. After all, they are intent on wiping them off the map, and you can't wipe off something that isn't there. Fleece just doesn't suit everyone.
EDIT: Shiloh, yes, the Fatah is the largest group inside the PLO, from what I gather, so it's all in the same area. A conflict/war could very well break out in the near future...

Here's a short interview on CNN with PM B. Netanyahu. What he said towards the end is a little eyebrow-raising:
Hamas could say that while lying. They are capable of worse things, they will have no problem with lying either. I hope Netanyahu continues to be on his guard about this.

The EU wants the talks to continue and sees no reason why they should not. They are committed to non-violence and a 2-state solution.
