I read an article that claimed that the church was silent on the issue of the one world government. Here is a link of you are interested: Silence in the Church
We know that the bible says there will be a one world government in the end times. I do believe we should know that but I am unsure that it is the churches responsibility or our responsibility as Christians to try and stop it. I will use my vote against such things but how can the church do anything to stop it? And should we make this one of our missions?
Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

I totally disagree with that issue. God Prophesied it would happen, and it will come to pass and there's nothing the Church can do about it. Those of us who are Watcher's are well aware of what the bible says must come to pass, we are to be diligent in His Word and are to make people aware of the coming Judgments so they can make a decision for Christ. Just as Noah preached of the coming judgment for 120 years, and continued to build the ark, we are to do the same and in a sense continue to build the Church. Anyway, that is my steadfast opinion.

"Religion that God accepts as pure and faultless is this: to care for the fatherless and the widow".
- James 1:27
Nothing else matters. The Church has two responsibilities. Just two.
1) Feed the body 2) Feed the poor and vulnerable
Obviously you can extrapolate a lot out of those two: the whole book of Ephesians pretty much covers #1, and I'm also including things like Missions in that (to feed the body, you must build the body), while to truly feed the poor and vulnerable, you must offer living bread as much as physical food, but in reality, that's it. Politics is not our agenda, because Jesus' Kingdom "is not of this world", and will not be until HE makes it so. We're just here to learn to serve Him in the meantime.

"extrapolate "......wow...I haven't heard that word in a lonnnnng time. But I have to agree with both Margaret and Benjamin on this.

Agree with all of you. I will give God's version of one world government as it comes up and have done so many times. But, other than that, it is not the purpose of why we are here.

Thanks guys for your thoughts on this. That is just what I was thinking when I read this. I don't even know what the author of the article thought that we should be doing. But I have found that God doesn't need me to fix everything that needs fixing. I only need to do that which He has called me to do and I let Him worry about the rest!

Good on yah with that grammar, Benjamin!
I disagree, like everyone else here. It isn't the churches responsibility to warn the population about what the government is doing.

Among the difficulties of being a watcher is getting people to see the clear and imminent danger going on -- not literally like, but figuratively like the break between reality and appearances of reality portrayed in The Matrix. Speaking for myself, we're sort of kooky-looking with our take on the Father's ultimate and pervasive yet veiled reality. We watchers feel and know it through the Word of God within the depths of our very souls, but it's hard to impart to neighbors. It's the Holy Spirit's role to convict them about sin and righteousness and judgment, and ours to point neighbors to Jesus. God's Revelation is soon to be quite obvious to all of our unaware neighbors, yet that revelation itself will remain under attack by many remarkably gifted deceivers.
But you guys know all that. Preaching to the choir here...

LOL! I do that too, Dan. I'm always going, "I'm preaching to the choir over here. Everybody here already knows that." I wholeheartedly agree that it is the Holy Spirit's job to convict. One thing that has always bothered me (not in a bad way) is why can't I get some to listen until I realized that isn't my job. I don't want to come off as being all preachy. That can be the biggest turn off of all when people do that. But I will stand on the Word and my convictions when confronted.. I find that it is SO much easier when the Holy Spirit opens the door. Often, someone will ask you or inquire about something in the Bible. There is nothing worse than someone beating the Biblle over someone's head and it benefits no one. Maybe showing love, kindness and understanding is the best way to start...being an example. I feel a sense of guilt when I read on some Christian sites about how we should be out there 'saving people' and warning them. Well, what if they don't listen? What if that turns them away from the Lord even more? I think the enemy (Satan) uses that too.

... we should be out there 'saving people' and warning them. Well, what if they don't listen?... Well, Shiloh, we would be in very good company. That even happened to our Savior and Lord. He came unto His own, and His own received Him not... This immediate immanency we are feeling, hoping, and living for is, after all, kind of a rare event -- even a once-in-a-civilization kind of thing. So it's easier to bet against rather than for it being soon, particularly when the stakes feel personally high about accepting that He's coming any minute now. We commonly hear Christians say, "Even Jesus said only the Father knows, so it can't be known ahead of time. Sure things are bad. They've always been bad..." Maybe some day in the near future someone will start a Scoffers Anonymous movement up there for those Christians who who turn out to have been genuinely surprised by the Rapture. "Hi. My name is Thomas, and I was a scoffer for thirty years." About PeaceInTheStorm's original question: I think this current one world government, now many centuries in the making, owns the lives and hearts of many clergy and lay people using that tried and found reliable tool: Deceit! For example, "Yes we can!" Itching ears, indeed! I suspect most people today think, "Anarchy isn't really a better choice, so as bad as it may be let's keep our fingers crossed... By the way, move those deck chairs over to starboard because it's higher up on that side..."
