I just saw the Trailer on this Movie. No known actors, seemed to be following Scripture (as far as I can see). Directors are Roma Downey & Mark Burnett, don't know much about them.
What do you think?
This is the Presentation by Roma Downey & Mark Burnett. Bible series. Here is the website, you can Watch the Trailer on there.

UPDATE!!!..........Satan is cast out of Bible film "Son of God"..
The devil will not be appearing alongside Jesus in The Bible film, producers have revealed.
Mark Burnett and Roma Downey have confirmed to The Wrap that scenes featuring Satan will not make the final cut of Son Of God, because of similarities in appearance between the actor and US President Barack Obama.
"Someone made a comment that the actor who played the devil vaguely resembled our president, and suddenly the media went nuts," Roma said.
"The next day, when I was sure everyone would only be talking about Jesus, they were talking about Satan instead. For our movie, Son Of God, I wanted all of the focus to be on Jesus."
Roma, who will play Jesus' mother Mary in the movie, added: "I want his name to be on the lips of everyone who sees this movie, so we cast Satan out. It gives me great pleasure to tell you that the devil is on the cutting room floor.
Son Of God, which will be released on February 28 in the US, is the big-screen interpretation of The Bible TV mini-series, which starred Diogo Morgado as Jesus and Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni as Satan.
The producers caused controversy with Mohamen's casting in the role, as viewers claimed he bore a striking resemblance to the President. They responded by saying that their decision was unintentional and merely coincidental.

I watched the trailer for this movie a few days ago and was expecting the worst, but was pleasantly surprised afterwards. Like you, Morningstar, my first thought was that they're following scripture ... which always helps I didn't know until now that it's produced by Mark Burnett and his "Touched By An Angel" wife, Roma Downey. In case you don't know, Burnett is a big-time reality show producer ("Survivor", to name one). They also did "The Bible" series last year; I didn't see it, but heard it was well received.

I didn't know that about Mark Burnett, Roma Downey starred in the Touched by an Angel didn't she? I never watched the series but I thought I heard that she had. Are they Christians? Just curious. Thanks for the input LS, I just wanted to know what everyone's opinion was on this. I get so leery when it comes to movies about the Bible, I have been so disappointed in the past.

So isn't this the same thing that was shown on the History channel a few months back? It looks exactly the same, it was shown as a mini series but it looks like it's going to the big screen is the only difference. Anyway, I loved it. I watched it all and cried at the end. I believe it's worth seeing for sure www.history.com/shows/the-bible/videos

I added a link there where you can check it out and also when it was showing on the History channel I could go and watch the episodes on Youtube for free but now it looks you can't do that. Bummer Roma was actually in it too.

NCIC ... In the article linked above, they said they shot some of the scenes for the movie while shooting the mini-series. It's not the mini-series showing on the big screne.

Oh well that's awesome then LS! I guess I should have paid more attention to the link lol. Everything I had seen was what I have seen before so I assumed it was the same, so my apologies I am glad they are putting a movie out because the mini series was really good. It's nice to see something like this come out among all the other junk that's out there these days.

So, there was a mini series done on this film? is it still on? The movie will be released in a couple of weeks anyway. I think you can purchase the mini series when it's released, and if it's as good as you say, I'll probably purchase the Movie. I never get tired of watching these types of movies...I loved the movie Jesus of Nazareth, and I have all of the OT movies David, Joseph, Abraham, Esther and a few others that I really enjoyed, they stuck pretty much to scripture I had these on VHS, but I am buying them on DVD now.

Not quite: They made a miniseries: "The Bible", which you can read about here: www.thebibleminiseries.com/...and afterward, seeing the popularity of the series, they decided to 'elaborate', and to continue shooting a film about the life of Christ. That film uses all the same actors, sets and props from the mini-series (and even uses some of the same footage), but just goes into everything in more depth. I can't vouch for the quality or lack thereof, though, I haven't watched them.

Yeah, It can't be the same, as the mini series was over 10 hours long and they can't fit all of that into one movie. I am excited to see this.

I just saw the previews the other night for this on t.v.. It looks really good from what I saw, but it's hard to tell from an advertisement for it. I am looking forward to seeing it. I never did watch 'The Bible'. It seemed to have gotten mixed reviews. Some said it as Scriptural and some said it wasn't all Scriptural.

I don't think it's right to present God on screen.

Yeah, it definitely had some "iffy" moments, but overall it was pretty good. It looks like they will be using some of the same footage in the "Son of God" film that was used in the mini series. I went to the movies this past weekend, and I saw the huge display for it. If it leads people to open their Bibles and search the Word of God for themselves, then I say "hallelujah!". We know that His Word never returns void.

I don't think it's right to present God on screen.
I've heard similar arguments that having pictures of Christ is a form of idolatry, but I don't see it in the same light. As a child with no Bible to read, the Lord used the '70's epic "Jesus of Nazareth" to introduce me to Christ and the Gospel. My children and I have also been richly blessed by watching "The Gospel of Matthew", with the smiling Jesus of Bruce Marchiano. I have a print from that movie in my dining room and it's so amazing to see Christ so... happy. That said, some of my favorite artwork of our Lord is the faceless kind, where you just see His hands or the focus is on the sinner and the Lord's hand is helping them up. But movies and pictures of Christ don't bother me. Despite being made by Mel Gibson, the Passion of the Christ touched a LOT of people, including Jim Caviezel, who was profoundly touched by God while making it. So was Bruce Marchiano, so much so that he dedicated his life to Christ's ministry. God does work through this medium, not only touching the audience but the actors as well.

Elizabeth quote:
The Lord uses whatever medium to spread His Word and to reach out to the unsaved, especially in this day and age. I do know that the movie "The Jesus film" has been used by Missionary groups in spreading the Gospel in third world countries, and that many have come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. I don't think there is anything wrong in using this method of spreading the Gospel to the unsaved, IMHO.

Becka and Morningstar, trust me I hear where you are coming from, you both make rational points that I understand. It's just a deep down conviction I have. I think it's trivializing the Lord. I wish I could articulate this better. I'll keep trying.

Becka, I heard the same thing about the actor who played Jesus in 'Jesus of Nazareth' too. He was deeply convicted and was living with his fiance and he said he had to marry her before he could possibly play Jesus. If he hadn't been offered that role, that probably wouldn't have happened. Since I saw The Passion of the Christ (I have that one too), it seems hard for me to imagine anything else measuring up to that movie, even though it was only about His Crucifixion. Mel Gibson got a lot of flack from Jewish rabbis over the film. I still can't get through that movie without kleenex on hand.

Elizabeth, I hear you. No fallen man can ever compare to the reality of the Son of God. I'm sure even in life, our Lord was completely "other". He said such scandalous things and did even more scandalous things... Yet, He was full of grace and truth. A seeming paradox, the One who shattered all the disciples had come to believe about God and who He is. He'd flipped everything on its head. He showed how all the "thou shalt nots" were really about LOVE. It blew their minds! I often wonder what it was like to look into Jesus' eyes. To know He knew what you were thinking. I wonder if He ever answered their trivial questions out loud that they'd only thought. He did it to the Pharisees plenty of times, "knowing their thoughts".
We cannot capture His majesty on film. I agree with you. But we work with what we got. LOL

Me neither, Shiloh. Trust me, I am not an overly emotional person, but when my g/f at the time and I watched The Passion of The Christ at the theater, we were both balling our eyes out and we couldn't figure out why no one else around us was. It's a great movie that I haven't been able to watch since.
