Relationships are among God’s greatest blessings. Just imagine how empty life would be if you were alone on a deserted island and had no one to speak or rejoice with. This blessing, however, can also be the source of some of our biggest challenges. That’s why we need to carefully consider how we treat others at home, in church, on the job, and in public. Thankfully, we have the Holy Spirit to help us interact in ways that bless others and honor the Lord. Continue reading text

That deserves a huge Amen. Good post Elizabeth. This sentence really stood out (for me, anyway):

One way or another, The Lord always seems to use Charles Stanley's ministry for teaching and encouragement when I need it most. Elizabeth, if you hadn't posted this article I would've missed this:
This is exactly what The Lord has laid on my heart for the last two weeks! I'm in a situation right now where I'm regularly asking The Holy Spirit to help me keep my mouth shut in obedience and not respond to affronts from a person close to me.
So thank you, Elizabeth! And as Shiloh said, Amen!

Shiloh and Jim, I'm glad you liked the devotional, I did too. I also liked the quotes you featured in your posts.

Thank you so much, Elizabeth, for posting this! Like Jim and Shiloh, this spoke to me, also.
This is the part that stood out to me the most:
Like Jim, I am also in a position in my life right now where I do not feel impressed to defend myself with someone in my life who is mistreating me. So I am trusting God to defend me like Charles Stanley said. It is so easy just to get defensive and snap back at the person. However, by doing so, how are we different from how the world treats each other? We need to stand out and give an example of God's love and patience towards the unloving person. That is what draws people to Christ, not rendering insult upon insult back to the person.

Leeza, I'm glad you liked the devotional. I don't have trouble holding my tongue because I am so bad at speaking to others, I get my tongue all twist tied. I tend to have more of the opposite problem, of speaking up.
My heart goes out to you though, it is awful to be mistreated by someone, in your life. To be gracious about it is a work of the Holy Spirit.

Elizabeth, I would consider that a blessing. Slow to speak and I DO believe that silence is golden in those times. Jim and Leeza, I've been there many times too and I'm sure it won't be the last. Of course, I have to go to the Emergency Room from biting my tongue in half and have it wrapped it some type of cast each time.
