I thought this was an interesting article. What do you think?
LiveScience:
Cats and Dogs May See in Ultraviolet By Tanya Lewis, Staff Writer
A house cat's bizarre antics may be more than just feline folly. The kitty may be seeing things that human eyes can't.
Unlike humans, many animals see in ultraviolet, and a study now suggests that cats, dogs and other mammals can, too. Knowing these animals see things invisible to humans could shed some light on the animals' behavior, the researchers say.
"Nobody ever thought these animals could see in ultraviolet, but in fact, they do," said study leader Ron Douglas, a biologist at City University London, in England.

Hmmmm, that's a very interesting article, Morningstar. It is really something how God created us and creatures with different visual perception. Often, my cats will sit there and look up as if they are focused on something and mesmorized and then I look up and see nothing...not even a bug on the ceiling. And then I ask them, "What are you seeing, you sweet jelly beans?", as if they will answer me. Then, I think, "They don't seem fearful and I don't feel anything odd or creepy, so I hope it's an angel." When it all comes down to it and like the article said in the last paragraph, maybe they're just crazy.

This is a good observation. Reminds me of a story in 2 Kings of Elisha/ Numbers 22 of Balaam;
2 Kings 6:17 And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
I read somewhere, can't remember where, that humans only see the spectrum in the mid range. So on a scale from 1-10 we are about a 5.
Balaam's donkey saw the angel before he did. Num. 22:31 Then the Lord opened the eyes of Balaam, and he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the way, and his sword drawn in his hand: and he bowed down his head, and fell flat on his face.
Ya never know!

WOW! That was great insight and those verses are so fitting for this thread, dpr2014. I didn't think about that.

Before the Fall, how did the animals communicate with Adam?
When Noah built the Ark, the animals came to him. These are God's creation, I think they must have a different perception and sensitivity than we do. Just my opinion.

I often thought that man and animal both were corrupted before the flood. That being the reason for total annihilation of both man and animal. Yes, I think before the flood, man could commune with animals. However, after the flood God gave the animals a natural fear/dread of man so this didn't happen again.... Gen 9:2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.
It was the only way for both to survive....Man being of a higher intelligence would naturally take advantage of the animal kingdom. Just my thoughts.

I have to agree with that, dpr. When man fell, so did all of creation. I believe God made the animals tame in order for them to enter the ark. And I also believe your view supports the scripture verses:
"...that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.…(Romans 8:21-23)

I agree, but I was talking about BEFORE the FALL, in my first sentence, I've always been curious about that. Adam had to name ALL the animals that the Lord Created and I think that the Lord brought them all to him to name, I maybe wrong and I guess I'll never know until we get to heaven.

Oh, before the fall it was all kumbaya and group hugs all around...I am thinking Adam only named the animals placed in the garden with him. Only the animals that contributed to the well being of the garden surroundings. The other names came from his original generic root.I could certainly be wrong. No big deal though, even if we are all wrong.

I wonder if God got a chuckle out of some of the names Adam gave the animals. I don't know if any of these existed in the garden of Eden but if so, would He have smiled at the name aardvark, monkey, platypus, lizard and gazelle?

Ya never know! ...you beat me to it. I was going to quote those exact passages. I watched an absolutely incredible documentary some months ago about the ability of insects to see the ultraviolet colours of the spectrum. It showed that the plants that we often see as... say, yellow... in ultraviolet light, look quite different. many plants have "runways" showing bees and other insects where to go to find pollen, for example, while others have ultraviolet "eyes" that you can't see with the naked eye, but are intended to scare off certain types of animals. It was amazing. This wasn't the video I watched, and obviously it's from an evolutionary perspective, but it gives you an idea of what I'm on about:

That's amazing. God's design is so full of wonderful surprises and mystery. For the past 2 years, I've been hanging 2 hummingbird feeders in early Spring. I was watching the hummingbirds one day while I was reading outside and thought, "I wonder how they find the hummingbird feeders." Prior to that, I had never had hummingbirds.
