Israeli jets reportedly strike targets near Lebanon-Syria borderUnconfirmed reports detail bombing raids near Hezbollah stronghold in Bekaa Valley By Ilan Ben Zion February 24, 2014, 11:04 pm Lebanese media reported Israeli air raids on targets in the Bekaa Valley, a Hezbollah stronghold bordering Syria on Monday night. Planes hit targets in the Baalbek region near the town of Nabi Chit, Lebanese and Arab media said. The area on the border with Syria, is known as a stronghold the the Shiite terror group Hezbollah. A correspondent for the Lebanese state news agency in Baalbek reported intensive Israeli flights “at very low altitude” over the mountains. The Lebanese Daily Star quoted a security source saying the Israeli military struck a Hezbollah position near Nabi Chit. The source said Israeli planes launched four rockets on the Janta area in the mountains separating the Lebanese village of Nabi Sheet from the Syrian border. The source noted that the Janta area is known to house a Hezbollah post, where recruitment and training are carried out.
