I know that Isaiah 17 and Psalm 83 will be happening soon. I'm wondering where Obadiah fits in with end times. I've wondered if this happens when Psalm 83 happens.
Prophesy isn't my strong suit.

I thought I'd just say why I thought it might go along with Psalm 83. It sounds like Obadiah is talking about the Palestinians living in Israel. It also sounds like this book is talking about their destruction. Israel would then be living safe, from them, and they are Israel closest neighbour.
Verse 15 talks about the day of the Lord drawing near, "(Oba 1:15) "For the day of the LORD draws near on all the nations. As you have done, it will be done to you. Your dealings will return on your own head." so I take it that this happens just before the tribulation begins.
If anyone has any ideas or if I've misinterpreted things, please say. I find prophesy quite hard to understand.

Obadiah, There was a partial fulfillment on Edom but it has never been fully destroyed to this day, but one day it will be, there are some Scholars that place this fulfillment during the Great Tribulation when the Lord returns to destroy all nations, the Edomites dwelled in the negev desert in the City of Petra, Petra will be the refuge of the Israelites when they flee into the desert in the middle of the tribulation (Abomination of Desolation occurs). There are some Scholars who put this prophecy along with Isaiah 17 & Psalm 83 where the nations that go against Israel in this war will be destroyed and Edom is part of the nations that attack Israel. I kind of go with the Psalm 83 & Isaiah 17 scenario because when this war happens Israel will acquire most of the land surrounding them and that would include Petra (negev) which is currently controlled by Jordon.

hmmm...I'm afraid I can't shed much light but I'm curious what others say. I just recently emailed a friend of mine who is very smart with Bible prophecy and here is a snippet of his email back .....
"Being ‘elect’ is highly dispensational (that’s a good thing, as you can’t understand it without dispensationalism.)
Different groups of people have been elect at different times. And it is possible to be UN-elected.
This is what Romans chaps 9-10-11 and the entire Book of Hosea is all about.
Hosea tells us about “My people Israel” but says the time is coming when they will “not be My people Israel” (that time has come, and now is) but there is coming a time when they will once again become ‘the client nation’ and be “My people Israel”.
NOTE: for those of us who are looking to get out of here – this is of utmost importance!
In God’s dispensations He never deals with Israel and the Church at the same time. Currently His Church is ‘elect’ but that is about to change – the question has always been – when? The first mention of Israel once again regaining the covenanted title “My people Israel” is found in Ezekiel 25:12-14. This passage is very interesting as it is in play right now. This is the Judgment on Edom. Who is Edom? These are the Palestinians of today… and God says he will use “My people Israel” (read: IDF) to lay vengeance on Edom (the Palestinians). This is probably a reference to Psalm 83 and the entire Book of Obadiah. When this occurs (and it could be sooo very soon) – Israel will once again be ‘elect’ … and the Church is out of here."
I need to go back and read Obadiah

I couldn't agree more, NFFE. By the way, I love your avatar. It's so nice to see you. You are so pretty and your son looks like a sweet little snuggle bug. He'd have me wrapped around his finger.

It came up on my computer, NFFE. That is just wayyyyy too cute! He's adorable! I love how they can't say things right when they're little. We still get a kick out of how our kids couldn't pronounce things right. Our son would always say, "Can I have a hammerburger?" and "I need my piggow." instead of pillow. Our daughter, when she was about 3-4 yrs. old, would say, "Mom, am I a gir?" (girl).. and "Can I have some kern (corn) after we go to the stir?" (store)"..."Should I shut the der (door)?" Your doggy is so cute too. He or she is having a little party with its toys. I was really cracking up.

Ah Nofruitforeve, you are so lucky to have Jaxon, children are such a blessing. I think they are a hoot, the funny things they say. My 4 yr old niece asked my sister, if even God had to rent bowling shoes.
Take lots of videos, you will not regret it.

NFFE your little guy reminds me of a miniature Brad Pitt ... very cute (as in: one of the cutest kids I've ever seen!) Elizabeth, you almost made me lose my train of scattered thoughts with that, "Does God have to rent bowling shoes?" line ... that is cutely-hilarious. Shiloh, did Jed Clampett and Granny have your daughter for the first 3 years?

Oh, NFFE, he is sooo cute! I also have a Jackson, whom I call Jaxxer. There was this cartoon called "Maggie and the Ferocious Beast", and he used to ask me if he could watch "Maggie and the Heroshinist Beats." I still giggle when I hear it in my head, and he is now 15. **sigh**
They are soooo precious. Hang on to every single moment; it goes by way too fast.

NFFW...Watch out!...gonna have to keep the girls in check with that one..LOL...He's adorable.
When my kids were around 3-4 yrs, I would have them repeat some words that were difficult to pronounce like, encyclopedia, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Physical Therapy...you can imagine the facial movements they would have just trying to pronounce them..they loved it because they thought they were being funny because we were all laughing.. I think that when they started to learn about having a sense of humor..LOL..

no fruit for eve, what a precious special little boy you have. unfortunately, it looks like it is not part of Jesus plan for my wife and to have kids. but i am so happy for those who DO have those little blessings. i can't imagine what it must be like to have fresh imagination in the house all the time. may the Lord Jesus bless you and your family.
as for the end times question, (alls) i know is that i want to go and see my Lord Jesus face to face. can't wait!

We're all with you on that Jasperdale. Kids or not.
Morningstar! Shame on you! That's pretty wicked....lololol
Jim, no. They didn't pronounce their misspoken words with a southern accent. hahahahaha.. They just had problems with certain words. Happily, they are very well-spoken adults now....well.....sometimes they're adults until they need mom and dad and I'm not just talking about money...it's mostly advice.

Hosea 5:15 is a reference to Matthew 12 the unpardonable sin.
That sin was the rejection of the Messiahship of Yeshua committed by that generation of Israel. It was only unpardonable nationally and the judgment was limited to only that generation of Yeshua's day. Individuals that committed the unpardonable sin of Matthew 12 included Saul, James the half bro of Yeshua and many others who were as individuals forgiven that sin.
What Hosea says is that when Israel confesses that sin that caused Messiah to return to His place (the right hand of the Father in heaven), that Yeshua returns. Thus Yeshua will not return until Israel as a nation asks Him to. Chapter 6 of Hosea tells us that the elders of Israel throw a three day prayer session. They will pray psalm 79-80, they then confess Isaiah 53 at which point Messiah returns from heaven to where they are hiding which Isaiah points out as Bozrah or Petra.
I'm not sure where Psalm 83 fits in other than possibly an addition to that prayer during the last days of the trib.

Just think NoFruitforEve: You are going to get to bring up this remarkable child in Heaven!! I am sure there will be challenges in raising children in heaven but you will not have to worry about all the sickos that harm kids.

Jasperdale: I have discussed the fact of people who want kids and can't or those who are just starting out their journey through life and go to heaven before having children. My sister and I have discussed this a lot since we have kids just starting out their lives. My thoughts went to all the children who were aborted and are now in heaven and children in heaven whose parents do not get raptured. These kids will need parents and I wonder if you will be able to adopt. God knows the desires of our hearts and I say there is still a chance to raise a child in heaven for you.

Shiloh: You are blessed to have children who come to you for advice. I find myself trying to not open my mouth and give input unsolicited. If they ask a direct question, I will give an honest answer.
