I recently was led to pray for a loved one's salvation (impressed upon me suddenly and emphatically one evening). Since I began praying for this person, I've been having the impression that this person will be saved during the tribulation. So my first question for everyone is: Have you ever prayed for someone who you feel will be saved during the tribulation? Just curious because this has never happened to me before.
My second question is: Have you ever started praying for someone's salvation only to have The Lord stop you? That happened to me several years ago as I began praying for a friend of a friend, at my friend's request. The only other interruption by The Lord that was that memorable, was when I was coming out of the RCC and began praying the Hail Mary one night; The Lord stopped me cold in a way I cannot describe, but remember like it was yesterday, instead of 35 years ago. Again, I'm just curious to know if anyone else has experienced this.
Thanks everyone!

LS, I feel strange admitting this, but I've had both those experiences, and I have no clue what they mean. Both have only happened once.

Yes. I've had both happen. The Lord will bring someone to mind and a lot of times it's someone who I haven't been in contact with but I get a very strong impression to pray for them. I say, "Lord, what am I supposed to pray for?" I felt like He told me not to concern myself with that and just pray because I know you love them. In other word, that's none of your business...lol...but, I can't stand seeing anyone in pain or suffering. So, I learned to pray in a different way for those people whom I don't know what they are going through and lay it at the foot of the Cross. Jim, I think the Hail Mary was the key to it all...coming out of our RCC background. OR, the Lord didn't want you to pray for that person for a reason. Only HE knows why. I trust that HE has a different plan and I don't mean in the sense of damnation. I've had times like that too. I know exactly what you're talking about. It's like the Lord stops you in your tracks. I don't know why. Could this or that person have hardened their heart toward the Lord and He is hardening it further as HE did with Pharoah? Does HE have a different means of bring them to Salvation? Yes, I know people that I feel will be finally saved during the Tribulation. I pray that they truly come to Christ before that, so they can leave with us. The fact is, we don't really know and only God does.

Good question, Jim. Whenever the Lord has put it in my heart to pray for a person, as a rule, He doesn't reveal to me the results of my prayers. Many times I will pray for that same person for years without seeing any results at all. But I feel impressed to keep on praying, regardless. Like I had mentioned here before, I prayed for my mother's salvation for 20 years before He saved her 3 months before she died on her 87th birthday. During the time I was praying, I had no idea if she was going to be saved or not. But He did answer that prayer....and by using the movie, "The Greatest Story Ever Told" to touch her heart and open her eyes as to what Jesus had did for us on the cross. Before that, whenever I talked to my mom about Jesus, her eyes would glaze over and she would change the subject.
Anyway about the second part of your question, I haven't necessarily felt led to stop praying for a person once the Lord has put it on my heart to start doing so. I guess the closest I have come to that is that I just don't feel impressed to continue to pray for the person.

Thank you both so much for your feedback, Elizabeth and Shiloh. I'd never heard anyone address these issues, be it a teacher or fellow believer, which is why I decided to bring them up here. I feel much better now, knowing that others have had these experiences as well.
UPDATE: Leeza, I just noticed your post after posting the above message. I want to thank you, as well, for your feedback. I really appreciate it because this is the only place where I can compare certain aspects of my walk, with the experiences of other believers. So again, thank you all.

Yes, Jim, I love the "iron sharpening iron" aspect of this website and the freedom we have to express ourselves without being zapped. Thank you, Benjamin, for that blessing.

Jim and Leeza I agree with what you both have written. It is nice to have a place where we can share ideas, where iron sharpens iron.
I also like having a space where I feel comfortable asking any question, no matter how stupid I think it is.
Thank you Benjamin.

LS, or Jim...because I guess that's your name right?...I would have to say yes on both questions, and both times there was no doubt as the message was very clear in my spirit. I will pray for a person's salvation continually unless the Lord leads me not too, which by the way rarely happens.

Thank you for your feedback, Morningstar, I truly appreciate it. The friend of the friend was an older, highly intelligent woman who was also well versed in scripture. Unfortunately it looks as if she'd hardened her heart to the point where I was not to pray for her. Needless to say, that was an eye opening prayer-time experience for me. Btw, Jim or Leaving Soon doesn't really matter

When I am out in a store, I frequently pray for salvation for those I pass by. it has happened a few times where I feel not led to pray salvation for a person. It is a fairly strong sensing not to proceed.
I very much appreciate the opportunity to post my questions and thoughts without raising an issue. So thanks Benjamin!!

You do that, too? I have done that for years. I especially do it when I hear an ambulance go by, not knowing if the person is having a heart attack and they are not saved.

Thank you for sharing that, Rieom, I appreciate it!
Leeza, we had a Grammar School class reunion a few years ago and one of my classmates reminded us of a few nuns who used to stop class whenever an ambulance would go by so that we all could say a quick prayer for the person inside. Of course as kids, most of us thought it was silly, but as adults, a number of us commented on the thoughtfulness and caring that was exhibited by those teachers.

Thanks for sharing that, Jim. I've never heard of anyone else doing that besides me!

A block down from where I live is a police station and a fire station. Every time I hear sirens, I start praying. I pray for salvation, the safety of those rushing to someone's aid. I pray they will get there in time to help and also pray that the doctors and nurses will know how to treat anyone with injuries.
