LS has removed his original post in this space - but below is the topic that everything else is referring to.
From Vladimir Putin:
[mod edit]The original post, from Dick Morris, claimed that this particular section of the interview suggested that Putin would use human shields. That's not quite what he's saying. He's saying that the people of Crimea would "stand up in front of" the Russian military (to protect them), as you can see from the quote above. This is why I suggested that we should take Dick Morris with a grain of salt - he tends to jump on things and sensationalise them without doing his due diligence to show balance.

Benjamin, why do you say that Dick morris might not be the most reputable man on the planet?.. I disagree, he knows this administration like the back of his hand,he knows his politics and politicians. He called it right about the Clintons and some of their political dealings also, and I have never found him to be disreputable in some of the talk shows and articles I have read. Sorry, but I think that was a little unfair.

I, personally like Dick Morris and he has been dead on with all of his writings and videos. If you don't live here in the U.S., you can't exactly judge that because all you know is what you read from your sources in another country. He hasn't missed the mark yet.

I'm not suggesting that Dick Morris shouldn't be allowed here, or anything along those lines - but he is someone that should be taken with a grain of salt. He tends to jump on things without doing due dilligence, and has a tendency to utilise sources simply because they agree with him, not because they're truthful. Does that mean he's "no good"? No, but it does mean that you need to be a little careful when sourcing him. This particular issue - an audio clip that Morris obtained, which he claimed had Vladimir Putin saying he'd use women and children as human shields, is a perfect example of this.
He jumped on the story and presented it as fact because it suited his agenda, and failed to do his due dilligence on the source as a result. As it is, if you watch the video (which has now emerged - and it IS Vladimir Putin), Putin isn't suggesting that he'll use human shields, but that the people of Crimea will rise up and defend their 'occupiers'. Unfortunately Morris was too busy getting excited over Putin being a "bad man" to put those facts together.
As for this:
Two things:
1) Grumpy much?
2) You do realise that this is the INTERNET, yes? ...I may not live in the US, but that doesn't mean that my news sources etc. are Australian, or that I'm inadequately equipped to assess the value of one source over another. Seriously.

Well he was wrong like the rest of us. Even people that had voted for Obama the first term were disappointed and voted for Roney. I wasn't too crazy about him either but it was the lesser of the two evils. Everyone was baffled at the outcome, which I am sticking to my gunns when I say he was placed there by another power. Beware of Wikapedia also. They are a very unreliable source and lean heavily to the the left. Often, they will even as for public help regarding their information. I rarely use them as far as anything political goes (just a little aside thing). ..and I am NOT being grumpy. I'm just stating my opinion..LOL

Call me crazy, but don't you find it odd that Putin would suggest that women and children (specifically) would jump in front of Russian soldiers to protect them? Could it possibly be a favorable translation to put his crazy remarks in a better light?
Let's ask the women out there. Would you and your kids naturally jump in front of, let's say, Canadian soldiers to protect them from American soldiers (pretending that you really liked Canadian soldiers)? Is that a natural reaction for women and children? Pssst ... the smoking baby says, "No, it's not"

I have to admit, I'd hoped that Romney would get the vote. I guess he just needed a little more help from his magic underpants than he was able to muster. www.buzzfeed.com/mckaycoppins/a-brief-guide-to-mormon-underwearLS: I don't think the translation really supports the idea of human shields - I've seen several different translations online - all seem to suggest that the Ukrainians will rise up to protect the Russians. Don't get me wrong - I'm not trying to suggest that Putin is a good man who is stepping in as a humanitarian, or anything along those lines, but I don't think he's actually suggesting human shields either.

But you have to read between the lines. Never underestimate Putin. Afterall, when women and children were being lined up and shot to death in Syria, he was all behind Syria. Both sides, the regime and the rebels committed atrocities. Putin knows how to play the game. He's a master chess player and I think he is Gog. Apparently, we have a Navy fighter ship headed to the black sea now. More to follow?

Good point Shiloh.
Benjamin,I didn't say that Dick Morris was infallible because he isn't, no one is, and that includes news sources e.t.c. He is a political analyst, and some of his opinions and predicted outcomes on political issue's may not have panned out as he thought, but to take all he says as "a grain of salt" is going a bit far in my estimation. That is my opinion on the subject so I'll let it drop there.

I have never heard of Dick Morris before and will certainly look up his web site.
When the election was called, Romey looked like he was hit in the stomach. He really thought he had won. I think he should of won the election but the powers that be wanted Obama in office and made it happen.
I think Putin will do what ever he has too. History shows that kids have been used before to walk mine fields and be blown up. Arabs have used kids as shields before also. History does tend to repeat itself so it is a possibility.
I would not jump in front of soldiers or have my kids jump in either. If my kids were threatened, then I would act as a human shield to save them.
I agree with the smoking baby....
