So... we now have new member ranks. It's SO hard to think of good ranks, but I think this will help us remember what goes where. The new ranks align with books of the Bible. They are:

Love it Benjamin!!!!... Very ingenious....but if we get to 10 (Raptured Saint) and were still here, that means that person will not be able to post anymore!!...And Shiloh's leading the pack right now...LOL

Hahaaaaaaaaaaa...leave it to you, Benjamin. Morningstar, we're all going to be racing for the silver star (raptured saint). We'll run the race and fight the good fight.

If we get to 10, and we're still here, I'll have to post the full text of Hezekiah 23:11 -
"We do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, for you yourselves know that the Rapture will not come unless the falling away happens first, regardless of whether or not you reach Rank 10 on the forums."

...there's a few mistakes in that image, actually. Rank 9 is "heavenly psalmist", and I've fixed up the numbering on the right... so ignore all that.

I'm a "Levitical Priest," apparently. Lol, it's actually kind of funny in an inside joke sort of way that I happened to land on that one when these were first made. The Lord knows what I'm referring to.

Shiloh, it's not a secret. It's probably just silly on my part. Basically, after I found out a few months ago that there had been Jews (apparently a lot of them) here in Portugal and Spain before the end of the 1400s, some of which stayed after being forced to convert to Catholicism, I started wondering who my ancestors were, given the little that I know about my mother's side of the family, and the next to nothing that I know of my father's side of the family, due to complicated family relationships. I didn't even meet my paternal grandmother because she died before I was born, and my mom says I met my paternal grandfather once when I was 4, when he was in the hospital, which I don't remember at all.
Anyway, I went to the Lord about it at that time and asked if He could find a way to tell me who my ancestors were, regardless if they had been Jewish or not. I didn't see any good signs of an answer on it, so I just figured there was no need for me to know, especially since I had not heard anything about my ancestors on that aspect up to that point in my life, and since it was mostly just curiosity I'd let it go. Then, a couple months later (a few weeks ago from now) someone posted on Facebook an article about that "Virgin Mary" statue in Israel that was crying oil or something, remember that? I couldn't stay quiet on it, so I commented rebuking those actions of veneration. A Jewish friend of the person that had posted it saw my comment and replied saying I had an interesting point of view and asking if I was sure I wasn't Jewish. We exchanged a few comments there, I stated that I was pretty sure since there were no Jewish customs in my family, and then we talked a little bit more and he told me as well that there were a lot of Jews here in Portugal in the 1400s (that which I had found out months earlier). We finished the conversation and I started wondering yet again who my ancestors were.
The next day I saw someone else had also commented with a link to a page about the Jews that had suffered persecution all over Europe in those days, including in Portugal and Spain, and that had lists with typical family names by each country and even names of Jewish people that had died or something, I don't remember. That other person told me to visit it because one of the people in those lists shared my last name. I checked it out and a few of my other family names were there too, theoretically increasing the chances of me having Jewish ancestry, which made me wonder even more. So I read a little more and it explained on how there were DNA tests (which I wasn't interested in doing) and how apparently Levites even have some sort of specific genetic marker or something that makes it easier to identify their lineage, saying it's possible to find out "if you're a descendant of Aaron," and in my head I was sarcastically like "Oh, yeah, I'm sure I am a descendant of Aaron already. Lol" But this specific thing seemed a little odd to me, and I wasn't understanding it all that well so I eventually stopped reading.
But I was still wondering and I asked the Lord why He was allowing me to yet again wonder and see specifically these things if I didn't have any Jewish ancestry or if He didn't want me to know anything about my ancestry or dwell on it, regardless of who they were. After that, I eventually let it go again. It was probably silly of me for wondering, and it wouldn't change anything, it was mostly just curiosity. This "Levitical Priest" title reminded me of that specific "maybe you're a descendant of Aaron" thing, so... "I say CONFERMATION!!!1!" Lol, I'm kidding. It just made me laugh in an inside joke sort of way, I guess.

Hey, that's interesting, John. Maybe the Lord doesn't want us to get too inolved in our ancestry sometimes.....probably more often than not. I have stories where the Lord just stopped it dead in its tracks. Have you ever heard of the Jewish Roots Movement? Something to be very cautious of, as with all of us from any ancestry. Take heart though. I got ahold of some extremely old black and white pictures on my father's side. These were relatives from his mother's side. I saw very old, old pictures and everyone looked mean and angry.....and I was thinking, "Can we possibly crack a smile? Loosen up folks!" and you should have seen the ones where some distant relatives had the waist of their pants so high that they were up to their chests and almost up to the neckline! LOL..I was thinking, "Could those pants possibly be any higher above the hips?"...hahahahahha..maybe that was the style back then.

Shiloh, I have never heard of the Jewish Roots Movement, I don't think. But I'm not looking to be Jewish, lol, I would never give up the Christian faith. I was just curious to find out where my ancestors came from, regardless of who they were. I do think there was a lesson to be learned in it, though. I think that the Lord was trying to remind me that it doesn't matter where I came from. I was probably getting a little too inquisitive about it in those two instances. Sometimes some things are better left not known, I guess.
Lol, I know what you mean about those old pictures, we have one here at home with four people all standing side by side and a little stiff-looking. Not even like putting their arms around each other as in a group or couples or something. Older times, older ways.

No, I know what you mean, John. I was in no way suggesting you wanted to become Jewish. lol....I just think we ALL have to realize we have a Heavenly Father who loves us and sometimes, depending on your background, that's hard to do because people picture our heavenly father as they do their 'earthly' father. I think there's a lot of other factors that go into that too. Personal experiences, abandonment, upbringing in a certain faith, etc. I don't want to sound all psychological but I have even heard some of the Godliest preachers teach on that subject alone. Charles Stanley has a great teaching on that. His father died when he was very little and his mom remarried. His step father was vey abusive to him and his mother. Anyway, he walked everyone through it all on how forgiveness is possible (for your own peace) and went through the whole psychological part of it and how we view God until we get into the Word and begin to know Him.

Benjamin, I think that the Levitical Priest and the Exodus Traveler are turned around. Shouldn't the Levitical Priest have two stars and the Exodus Traveler have three stars? And according to your chart, shouldn't brotherjohn and myself be Exodus Travelers by now according to the rank and number of posts required? No big deal, just saying.

Brother John, how interesting! Shiloh, thanks for the high waisted pants visual! Hahaha! It cracked me up! Benjamin, thanks for the creative rank titles. Too bad I didn't get credit for all the posts I read - I'd be into the promised land! A quick question: why are some posts in very small fonts while other are sized for the jumbotron? Is it just me?
|
|
|
Post by Benjamin on Mar 15, 2014 2:11:02 GMT
It's not just you, no. You can select font sizes when you post, if you hit the "reply" button, rather than typing in the little box at the bottom. Some people choose massive fonts, others choose normal ones.
...usually if someone chooses a font that is WAY too big, I'll edit the post and reduce it a bit. I'm currently looking into ways to limit the font size, so that you can go up one size, but no further.
Right now, we have:
font size 1 font size 2 (this is the default) font size 3 font size 4
...and that in itself is a change from the original settings, which had 7 levels of font sizes.

bahahaha.
...I can remove it if you like. I was just messing around with a few custom settings, and thought "hmm... who can I mess with?" I was toying with the idea of allowing people to create custom titles. You were my test guinea-pig.

I think it's funny but I was a bit startled and thought, "When did Benjamin add that?!" So, I came back to this thread and saw that you wrote, "Shhhhhhh..she doesn't know it yet." That really made me laugh.
