Lily, I'm happy to hear that you're feeling comfortable here ... that's the way it should be, right? I guess we should thank Annemc for raising her son right. Congratulations Anne (Elizabeth?) on raising a son who began serving The Lord at such a young age; that says a lot about you and your husband. But I have just one question: Where did his sarcasm come from? Btw, I loved that Tozer quote! They beat it into me. No, seriously - ask her what they named the wooden spoon in our house. [edit, by way of a disclaimer: I don't recall ever being hit by said spoon, but the name is hilarious nonetheless. I think its very existence was enough to pull me into line]

Oh man!! All is revealed!! Ok. So it was called the 'brat-whacker'. Oh I'm so embarassed! I'll tell you a story though: When Ben was 6 we moved to mainland Australia for a 3-year stay due to my husband's work. We attended a large Baptist church. The minister there knew us and had attended the Bible College where Ben's maternal gradfather was a lecturer and his paternal grandfather was principal. On our first Sunday there, 6-year-old Ben pulled out a notepad and took notes during the sermon. At the conclusion of the service he handed his notes to the Pastor who read them through. Looking up at us he said:"This boy has got all my sermon here, point by point!" Oh, and you asked about his sarcasm? Great news! He's giving it up for Lent! AREN'T YOU,SON! (Now where did I put that 'brat whacker'?)

Thank you for the welcome, annemc! Thanks for the encouragement to keep looking up. This may sound strange, but there are times when I think I feel homesick when I think of heaven. I long for it, and I'm glad I have a place to meet others who do, too. And I agree with LS - you did a nice job raising your son. I do feel comfortable here, LS. The members have been amazing. There are forums that don't treat their new members as nicely as I have been treated here. Thanks to all. annemc, you should be here more often - it's fun to hear you and Benjamin together. You both have a great sense of humor.

Anne, you should have your own permanent thread, just to tell the stories. . . the brat-whacker, and taking sermon notes at six, I love it.

I agree, Elizabeth. That would be fun. It's something to think of a 6 year old taking notes and writing the sermon down, point by point. I love the name of the wooden spoon (brat-whacker)..lol..I used to get spanked with that but not often. I never used a wooden spoon on my kids....I just choked them...lolololol...I'm only kidding about the choking part. You've done well as Ben's parents and it's okay. We love his sarcasm.

Where have I been? I missed all this...Anne, I just love that story especially the part of Ben taking notes at six...I was chuckling so hard just picturing little Ben laboriously taking notes as fast as he can..and he probably corrected the Pastor on a few points too...LOL!!!..loved that story.... Jim, as far as sarcasm goes....we give as good as we get..LOL Ben, I can see a sense of humor runs in the family...do your kids have it too???

Ben's little girls get to lounge on kangaroos. I'm a little bit jealous about that. That would be the neatest thing to be able to do, and funny too. Margo, you were out of the loop because "Margaret went to market"....lol
