Don't know that much about Hillsong, nor have listened to their music, have heard Christians refer to them on some of the forums. This is an interesting article. Hillsong Watch
Brian Houston: “the Muslim and you, we actually serve the same God”
Hillsong is famous all around the Christian world for their worship music. But what god does Hillsong worship? What god do they serve? Does your church sing Hillsong music? Do you find the songs generally vague and lacking scriptural substance in contrast to hymns? Well brace yourself. Brian Houston believes that Christians and Muslims serve the same God. Watch him say it yourself: Brian Houston says, “How do you view God? In a desert there’s two types of birds: there’s vultures and there’s hummingbirds. One lives off dead carcasses, rotting meat. The other lives off the beautiful, sweet nectar in a particular flower on a particular desert plant. In the same desert, they both find what they’re looking for. Do you know – take it all the way back into the Old Testament and the Muslim and you, we actually serve the same God. Allah to a Muslim, to us Abba Father God. And of course through history, those views have changed greatly. But lets make sure that we view God through the eyes of Jesus, the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the beauty of a Saviour, the loving open inclusive arms of a loving God. And that way we’ll lead out of that and you’ll be purposeful about your leadership and you’ll draw people just like the Lord Jesus always does through the power of the Holy Spirit.” Full Article linkFair Use for Discussion & Educational Purposes.

No. No, no, no, no, no. Yahweh is not allah and I will defend that to my dying breath. You might be able to trace the people back to Ishmael, but they were not Muslims then. Perhaps they did, at one time, serve Yahweh. But saying that allah is the same God is giving credibility to a false religion. We know Mohammed is NOT a prophet of God. Prophets in the Biblical, OT sense ceased with John the Baptist. Why? Because now we have the full revelation of God in Christ Jesus. The canon of Scripture closed with the book of Revelation on the Isle of Patmos in AD90-95. Mohammed claims Christ was only a prophet, not the Son of God. Mohammed claims Christ was not crucified. Mohammed claims allah has no Son.
Islam is a false religion. We do NOT follow the same God because allah is an IDOL and Yahweh is the Living God.

Couldn't agree more Becka, but this is what's infiltrating our Churches, are they taking their queue from the mainline denominations who have taken their queue from the RCC on this type of mindset? It is spreading now to every denomination, and non-denominational churches. Can a true believer in Jesus Christ take such a stance as this? I know that only God knows their hearts, but I also know that none of us can plead ignorance when we stand before the Lord.

We'll have to send Benjamin over there to straighten him out

Is this just the leaders idea, or do the singers go along with him on this? We don't really know.
I'm not too familiar with this group. Are they Australian, is that why we are leaving it up to Benjamin to sort him out? Or is it because Benjamin's got the notorious red marker pen?

From what I've learned from "googling" them is that the Hillsong megachurch is located in Sydney, Australia.

May the Lord rebuke these lies. Nicely said, Becka.

Brian Houston posted on Twitter after this video made news, stating that Allah and God are the same God was "what he said, but not what he meant", and that he meant that Christianity and Islam are both Abrahamic religions. ...which, of course, you can totally understand, because they're so similar linguistically.

Benjamin is elected because he knows how to "violently disagree" with his red pen he uses for correction....hahahahaha. I've only heard a few of Hillsong's songs and I liked them. Not enough to judge their motives by this, though. Methinks me is a hummingbird.....

Hillsong is a Mega-Church... with all that comes with it. They're light on theology, heavy on worship music and emotion... with very little true spirituality attached.
They're certainly well known here, and a lot of people listen to their music. It's not really my thing (with probably one exception, which I think I posted in the music thread), which makes it easier for me to be critical - but, without going overboard...
I think the Islam/Christianity question is really very cut and dried. Mohammed didn't have his "revelation" until 500 years after Christ, by which time he felt that he was in a good position to "correct" all the perceived errors made by scribes and scholars in the thousands of years of Jewish history. They may claim the bloodline of Ishmael, but I don't believe that they have any real spiritual connection to him, or to what he believed. Islam is quite literally a new creation - which is why it has the teaching of "Dar Al Islam" (meaning 'the extent of Islam'). What this doctrine teaches is that, for the furtherance of Islam, any tactics deemed necessary are appropriate. Islam may be spread by preaching, or by the sword. Take the first, or get the latter.
This was a necessary approach for Mohammed, because the people of the Arabian Peninsula recognised his teaching for what it was, and wanted nothing to do with it. ...so instead, he put his foot on their necks, a sword in his hand, and asked them "nicely".
Islam and Christianity have nothing in common. Islam is a religion of demons, thinly veiled in the fabric of revisionist history, for the sake of appearances. Nothing more.

Got it. Yet, now we have the pope trying to unite Muslims and Christians. This just won't fade away. It's Ecumenism (interfaith) that is gaining ground all over the world and it's not going to go away because we know how it all plays out.

^ A one world religion led by the false prophet, whoever he may be... It does look like these things are sort of building a base for that, doesn't it?
