I saw that and felt it was creepy but then, I am not a fan of Facebook at all.

rieom, so you don't Facebook either? I thought me and my husband, along with a few others were the only ones who don't. Our daughter set me up with it one time and I lasted for about 1 month. I disabled it. WAY too much drama on there for me and everybody wants to be your friend. A lot of gossiping on there, too.

I still use Facebook, for the sole purpose of having somewhere where the people I know can reach me easily through messages, since not everyone has my phone number or e-mail, and because I sometimes like to share songs or Scripture verses there, in case someone will listen. I used to be bothered by what people shared there but now I just go right to my profile instead of the general wall. That way I don't have to deal with scoffers that like to indirectly mock through what they share.
But if Facebook ever requires more than what it does now to be used and to what I use it for, I will leave without even batting an eye. A while ago I reported to Facebook a page that was mocking the Bible and things in the Bible (which some people I have added decided to share things from it), and Facebook sent me a reply saying they couldn't find anything that violated their rules, so they kept the page. "Of course you couldn't," I thought. They also suggested I ask the owner of the page to take it down. Lol, like that would do any good.
I also read through the comments on that page and there was one person that said "Oh, I'm Catholic and I find this page hilarious!" I thought, "Well, maybe that's the problem." People have no respect for anything or anyone nowadays. To them, respect is only concerned when it comes to their own misled beliefs. That's the way of this world and I can barely wait for it to pass away.

John, my daughter was asked to be a moderator on a Christian site on Facebook called 'Simply Christian'. Her facebook page is very lovely and all Godly with beautiful pictures and scriptures. It's very classy and no trashy things. I have to have my son show me her Facebook page since I'm no longer on it. She had to step back and sent me some things people were saying and I can understand why she had to take a break. So, I think I know where you're coming from....plus, she had an old guy stalking her. You wouldn't believe the things he wrote....I TOLD her not to put pictures of her and her husband on there.

I can only imagine that the writer of that article has never used the technology he's describing. The Oculus Rift is primarily a gaming device at this point, and certainly isn't anything new. VR headsets have been around since the 90's - it's just that this is the first with real potential.
I seriously doubt that Facebook's purchase of Oculus Rift has anything to do with social control and world domination, and EVERYTHING to do with the fact that they think it might be the "next big thing" and make them all a lot of money.

Oh, don't worry, Shiloh, I can imagine. That on that page was probably an attack from the enemy. People have no idea what they are doing, and they don't seem to care either. For some of them it's almost like that is how they manage to get some sleep at night.
I've seen a lot of evil and perversion over the years, sadly. I think that made me lose that "innocence" that I still had from when I was a kid and made me a colder person in a way. Matthew 24 is directed at the Jews and mainly for the tribulation, but there is at least one verse there that in my opinion applies to everyone now. I'm talking about Matthew 24:12. If you notice, nowadays a lot of people's mentalities is of a "I don't care" sort of thing, and I think that has been increasing over the years and affected me too when I was in university. Not entirely, but a good part of it, and the sin I was living in didn't help either, it made things worse. Music, television shows and all kinds of things are sort of built around this mentality now, and people get influenced by it more and more, especially the younger generations.
Older folks probably notice this more easily, since they can tell what it was like "back then" and how it is now.
EDIT: Benjamin, lol, world domination probably isn't what they're going for... yet at least. I think that trying to get as many people as possible to join their social network (and doing every effort to make sure they stay there) as a business tactic is a little too much, but I guess we're talking about money here, so it's not surprising. It's just a social network for now, though, yes.
The thing that creeps me the most is that you can't delete your profile. If you do it's just "disabled" until you decide to come back. I realise that could be for "convenience," conspiracies aside. But if I didn't want to delete it I wouldn't do it in the first place, and it's not like there would be a huge loss in it anyway.

But Benjamin. Think of the potential. It probably IS just another way of thinking how to make money. I don't exactly trust Zuckerman either. He's another Bill Gates who stole his idea from some woman. Zuckerman is also another big Obama fan and those two have been seen together going into private meetings. That's not a new revelation.
