We all know Palestinians is a made up name of a people. I do not like using this designation for them because it gives legitimacy to a heritage they do not have. It is almost as if it is said enough it becomes fact.

Funny you should mention that...I found this on Israel Today news. Hope you don't mind if I post this (don't want to make a separate thread), because it relates to your question. What's really a good read is Amb. Alan Baker Essay on the history of the Palestinians...it's a little long but a must read if you truly want to know how they came about to be in the Land of Israel. Israel Today Source Link Where Did the Palestinians Come From, Anyway?
There are many competing claims at play in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but the simple question of who was here first, as childish as it might sound, remains central to the contest. That is precisely why, in addition to leveling all sorts of other accusations at Israel, the Palestinian Authority is engaged in an effort to invent a new historical narrative that puts the Palestinians in the land long before the Hebrews ever arrived from Egypt. If, as the Palestinians also claim, they are part of the wider Arab world, then this new narrative is easily debunked by any number of historical documentation and archeological finds. And yet, it is catching on at an alarming rate with those who would likely consider themselves cognizant of regional history. One of the latest proponents of what can only reasonably be labeled a “fairytale” is chief Palestinian Authority negotiator Saeb Erekat, who told a diplomatic gathering in Munich last month that his particular tribe had been residents of Jericho thousands of years before the arrival of Joshua Ben Nun, the Israelite leader following Moses. In a thorough expose, Ambassador Alan Baker of the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs picked apart Erekat’s assertion and those like it. In summary, Baker noted that Erekat’s own genealogy, which is easily researched, puts his ancestral Huweitat tribe back in the Arabian peninsula as recently as the 19th century. Only after the Jews began returning to the land en masse did the Huweitat tribe take up residence near Jericho, Jerusalem and other parts of what are now Israel and Jordan. “Several leading scholars of Middle Eastern studies and Islamic history have confirmed that the Palestinians do not have ancient roots in the area and are trying to invent origins for themselves that predate the Jewish people’s presence,” wrote Baker. By contrast, “the historical presence of the Jewish people in the ‘Holy Land’ is well-documented, not only in the scriptures of all three monotheistic religions, and visible in extensive archeological remains, but also in historic writings by early Greek, Roman, pagan, and other visitors to the area,” he continued.
Baker’s full essay on the topic is well worth a read. Click here to do so.

“Several leading scholars of Middle Eastern studies and Islamic history have confirmed that the Palestinians do not have ancient roots in the area and are trying to invent origins for themselves that predate the Jewish people’s presence,”
Even if they did have roots there, Who created all things, including this planet and every piece of land in it? Who not only gave that land to the people of Israel forever, but also led them there? This isn't about who was there first, it's about false beliefs and blindness to the Truth. You can try to reason with evil all you want, but evil never plays fair, so it won't work.
Well, as for the main question, perhaps we could be using Palestinians with inverted commas. I use Palestinians in the first place because it's what they're known as by everyone, not because I think or even care that they were there first or not. Even I could be descended from a remnant of one of those nations that the Lord drove out from before the Israelites, and I wouldn't care if they would be in the land now or not, because of the reasons I mentioned above. To partially quote a song I used to listen to a couple years ago, it was His in the beginning, and it's His to do what He pleases.

They DO have roots but they are not Jewish roots, as far as Israel goes. They, themselves don't even know where they belong. The "Palestinians" are nothing more than a pawn and used to incite violence through surrounding nations to the very people who claim to back them. Very sad. Why don't the surrounding nations take them in? Think about that. Those surrounding nations are much larger than tiny Israel (the apple of God's eye). Israel has Palestinians and Muslims within their own government, yet everyone hates them. Satanic much?
EDIT: I had to go back and add to this because I wasn't done with my rant last night...lol

That was a good article MS. I had read similar, but less comprehensive this weekend. This is what prompted my question. They glut the news with false statements. What concerns me is all the people who believe what they hear and read and go down the wrong path. I still do not know what to call them because the term Palestinians has become standard in their case, probably because they have put it out there so much.

Maybe we should call them pawns. I feel sad for many of them because they don't even know. I knew this little old guy who was Palestinian and we ran into eachother at a breakfast buffet at a nearby restaurant. We started talking about everything going on and he looked at me and said, "You know what, Ren? I believe the Lord, Jesus is coming back for his bride VERY soon." We both gave eachother the nod (in agreement)....as we were shoving toast, bacon and eggs in our mouths and sipping coffee...lol

I would call them pawns but very few would recognize it. I like the idea of inverted commas BJ.
