Queen meets Pope Francis at the Vatican
The Queen has met Pope Francis for the first time, during a one-day visit to the Italian capital, Rome. The meeting in the Vatican was described as a private one and pomp and protocol were kept to a minimum. Earlier, the Queen and Prince Philip had lunch with the Italian President, Giorgio Napolitano, and his wife Clio at the Quirinal Palace. This part of the article was most interesting, and I know it means something: I think wearing black meant to bow in servitude symbolically. So the Royals aren't doing this anymore??? Maybe she just thought black made her look dowdy on that day.

Well I found a youtube where the Queen met the previous Pope while not dressed in black. This meeting took place in one of her palaces though, not the Vatican. The dress code at the Vatican might be different.
