Ukraine crisis: Protesters declare Donetsk 'republic'Pro-Russian protesters who seized the regional government building in the Ukrainian city of Donetsk are reported to have declared a "people's republic". The rebels have called for a referendum on secession from Ukraine by 11 May. Ukrainian security officials are being sent to the eastern cities of Donetsk, Luhansk and Kharkiv after pro-Russia groups occupied government buildings. Interim President Oleksandr Turchynov called the unrest an attempt by Russia to "dismember" Ukraine. You know, I was thinking about all this last night.... with Russia and the Ukraine along with the missiles Russia is going to supply Iran with. That would give Russia easier access to Israel by taking over the Ukraine. I've always wondered how all of this would happen. When you think about it, the Lord said it would happen (as in Ezekiel 38, 39) but He didn't say how. It's amazing to see this all unfolding and being set up, isn't it?

You know, I was thinking about all this last night.... with Russia and the Ukraine along with the missiles Russia is going to supply Iran with. That would give Russia easier access to Israel by taking over the Ukraine. I've always wondered how all of this would happen. When you think about it, the Lord said it would happen (as in Ezekiel 38, 39) but He didn't say how. It's amazing to see this all unfolding and being set up, isn't it? Turkey's relationship with Russia is important here too. They've had some degree of animosity for centuries now - and a very recent thaw. Russia's reclamation of Crimea gives them instant access through the Black Sea down to the Mediterranean, which means that rather than dispatching a fleet to the Middle East through the North, to circuit down through the English channel, which would then have to turn eastward through the strait of Gibraltar, they now have a very direct, very fast route. They had this before with the fleet stationed in Sevastopool, but while they had permission, they clearly didn't have control. Things are accelerating quickly now. Keep in mind, too, that Crimea had to be declared a republic in order for the (farce of an) election to be even remotely 'legal'. Is this just another step? It certainly seems that way.
