I thought it fit well with you study. Ruth and Boaz is a beautiful love story. It was interesting to look through the pictures that came up of Ruth and Boaz and to compare them to the rapture. Thanks for posting this study.

Marylou, do you suspect / know if / those 144,000's mission is to Jews and gentiles both?
By the way, thanks for this post.

Boy, that really made me start thinking, and to want to look into it, and I hoped that it would include everybody. The story of Ruth didn't seem to reveal more about that, and I began to think about Revelation. In chapter 3, there is the letter to the seven churches in Asia (which most of us think applies to the church around the world, down through the centuries). In chapter 4, John is told to come up hither, and the elders are before the throne. In chapter 7, the 144,000 are sealed, and in 7:9 I found a promising answer:
9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. .... 13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they?
14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
15 Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them.
(I found that in just minutes by going to kingjamesbibleonline.org). I will be taking a harder look, thinking about this, but I think the question in verse 13 and the answer in verse 14 that it is believers who came out of great tribulation really sheds a lot of light.
I really appreciate the responses.

Thanks, Marylou. The origin of my question was always in wondering if the 144,000 are Jewish evangelists to [primarily?] Jews. Another source of education of Tribulation saints verses you cited in Revelation 7 might be in Revelation 14:
6 Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth — to every nation, tribe, language and people. 7 He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.”
But this is placed in the Scripture well after Revelation 7... Thoughts?
I suspect there may be countless other manifestations of the Lord given to individuals and groups He will save, for example dreams and visions, involving other than the 144,000 or the angel flying...

I won't be able to resist reading all of the chapters of Revelation. Here goes with some thoughts, though. The locale of the 144,000 seems limited, but I have to think their effort will be to reach the world. If they used internet, radio, etc., we'd have to consider oppressive censoring, danger of speaking out. With such great upheavals as described, we have to consider whether communications are working in ways they do now, have to wonder about blackouts by the enemy, costs (ha!), EMPs even, earthquakes breaking wiring, towers, etc. Absolutely, I do think dreams and visions will be very great. I do have such occasionally, and this source of contact is to remain unstoppable by the enemy and the state. The very fact that many conversions are occurring among Muslims who see a vision of Jesus definitely points to that growing. I wasn't able to be at all sure of the group in Revelation chapter 14, felt I'd better look very closely at all that happens from chapter 7 to 14. I'll want to read all and make notes for every chapter to try to see the big picture. I tend to focus on details, and also I watch for riddles or questions (which I've begun to feel are meant to trigger our interest and to cause us to make a real effort to answer the riddle or questions. I mentioned 7 churches in Asia because it might point to the 144,000 having a world outreach, not just Middle East, but so far no impression of how long they preach. The flying angel to "every nation" caused me to think: 'Phillip flying, converting the eunuch!' Now I am definitely thinking the 144,000 servants will have a supernatural outreach, being transported to preach the gospel around the world. I would have totally missed that if you hadn't pointed it out. I think it is truly implied. I believe the flying angel is literal, but there seems to be a strong hint that the supernatural outreach, and I believe events like happened to Phillip, will be very great. A friend told me of a mututal acquaintance who was transported somewhere and witnessed in an unforgettable happening.

I believe the Book of Ruth lays out a very full typology of the Redeemer, His Bride, the fruit of their union in Heaven, Israel in the end-times

Hi!
I very recently found what I believe to be a type of the left behind gentiles during the Tribulation and how they may be saved. I hope to make a posting in early 2021 about Rahab, and post it here.
She is Rahab, the gentile, who helped and dealt honestly with the men sent by Joshua to her house.
First, when they came she allowed them to lodge in her house. Then Rahab recognized that she should help these men.
When the king of Jericho sent to Rahab asking for the men that came to her house to search out the area of Jericho, Rahab said she did not know where they went (and she hid the men on the roof). So she chose sides against evil Jericho.
She told the men about how she ["we" implies she and her family] had heard about the Crossing of the Red Sea, and the power of the LORD God, and the destruction of the kings on the other side after the crossing.
She made a confession "for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above,...."
She asked for their blessing and she received the promise from them that she and her whole family would be saved.
She took her red cord and used it to let the Israelites down from her roof.
She also used the red cord to let them know to spare her and her family.
The Israelites helped Rahab and her whole family escape before the Lord destroyed the walls and Jericho. Joshua is like Christ. +++ Joshua 2:1 And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men to spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even Jericho. And they went, and came into an harlot's house, named Rahab, and lodged there.
2 And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to night of the children of Israel to search out the country.
3 And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country.
4 And the woman took the two men, and hid them, and said thus, There came men unto me, but I wist not whence they were:
5 And it came to pass about the time of shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out: whither the men went I wot not: pursue after them quickly; for ye shall overtake them.
6 But she had brought them up to the roof of the house, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof.
7 And the men pursued after them the way to Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they which pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.
8 And before they were laid down, she came up unto them upon the roof;
9 And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land faint because of you.
10 For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.
11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath.
12 Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the LORD, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father's house, and give me a true token:
13 And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.
14 And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.
15 Then she let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was upon the town wall, and she dwelt upon the wall....
18 Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt bring thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father's household, home unto thee....
21 And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.

Thanks, Mary. I sincerely appreciate the thought and effort.
It may not be related in any way, but reading here about Rahab's red cord I wondered about similarities surrounding the Scapegoat that was headed into the wilderness, and when it died, (Day of Atonement Leviticus 16 story), that the strip of scarlet-dyed wool which was tied to the head of the scapegoat always turned white during the Yom Kippur service. This according to the Talmud. I might have it cockeyed though. Thinking out loud here online. :-) Probably not related... Never mind... Have a blessed day.

For the moment, I can't think of anything to tie the symbol of the scarlet cord, the scarlet wool, as far as Rahab and others.
However, I had forgotten the scarlet dyed wool in the case of the scapegoat. The Blood of Christ cleanses whiter than snow. He was made to be sin for us. That will all set me to thinking, at least to trying to think of other scarlet items.
Jacob's little wrist having a red cord tie around it, before the birth of twin Esau, comes to mind. Also, the hyssop dipped in the blood of the Passover lamb comes to mind. As I consider, another comes to mind, the red blood placed on Joseph's coat of many colors to convince Jacob that Joseph had been killed. Joseph is such a wonderful type of the Lord Jesus, many parallels. The blood sprinkled on the Ark of the Covenant once annually now comes to mind.
Another thing that comes to mind was that during the 1970s, the Charismatic Renewal movement, some thought of a red item as being a way people might somehow show they were believers and protected, and I faintly recall hearing a story that there was some incident that made those who heard about it shy away from using such a marker. After that time, I felt the red, if used as a symbol of the Blood of Christ, is too holy to use as a marker or garment, because it symbolizes the Blood of the Lamb.
Odd, but I heard recently that some people were marking their homes with a red ribbon during the current coronavirus contagion.
But back to the types, thoughts about Bible mentions of a red cord, or the red wool, and I think this will be a type that has deeper meaning, beyond the fact that it points to salvation -- not more important, but an important insight is likely.

Jesus' blood! So many parallels! Yes, Mary. Consider Colossians 1:15-20 -- He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
The awesome power of the Creator! His blood SacRED.

Thank you so much for your response. It is truly the type of Jesus's Blood in many Scriptures. Wonderful Scripture you gave. Also, I plan to do more digging.
Jericho was the first victory in the Promised Land, and can be compared to the bringing down by the Lord of the enclave of the enemy, compared to Satan and his realm, and this will happen again even more fully when Jesus brings it down at the End Times. So I believe the type portrayed by Rahab during the end time reveals that some will be delivered before the destruction in the Tribulation.
My son is spending his vacation here, and will be joined later by his brother.
