Where's Benjamin? ?? Has he been on the site? I hope he and all of his family are far enough inland. Prayers are going up for all in this tsunami's path. Lord, protect those who are Yours.

Benjamin, I see you're online. I am thinking you are way far enough south, but those tsunamis can have quite a ripple effect (so to speak). I am hoping this tsunami warning gets cancelled. This was a huge one.

This was a significant earthquake. The earthquakes have been busy today and most of them huge ones.

The earthquake was significant, but not large enough to generate a tsunami. There have been some slightly higher than usual swells, and stronger currents, but nothing that would cause any damage. The original reading on the quake was 8.3, which is why the tsunami alert was issued. That was then downgraded to 7.6, and deeper than initially gauged.
The earthquakes near the surface are the ones you have to watch for.
...so yes, everything is okay here. The tsunami watch alert has been cancelled.
