Ah that's adorable, but I'm not sure how much the penquins like wearing them though. I guess they're good if it saves them from oil spills.

lol, I know. They said the purpose is not only to protect them from oils spills but also so that they won't groom themselves, which I guess can be deadly in an oil spill. I wonder if they wash them with Dawn dish detergent after they're retrived from an oil spill. They did that with the Pelicans and other wildlife after the Gulf 'spill'. For some reason, that's the only kind they can use.

Yep, those are genuine. I remember watching a documentary about this a while back. They do in fact use detergent to get rid of as much oil as possible, and Dawn doesn't have any negative side-effects for the penguins. One of the issues they did have, though, was that the penguins would groom themselves and end up ingesting oil, which would make them really sick... hence the little jumpers.
Cute, huh?

Oh. And for the Aussie-impaired:
jumper = sweater.
We don't use the word "sweater" here... which is good, really, because it's kind of gross when you think about it.

Well, jumpers would be a fitting name for them....especially for Penguins. Rieom, your avatar is hilarious and goes right with the undertitle that Benjamin gave you. I laughed so hard.

Rieom...your avatar isn't at all how I pictured you LOL. And Benjamin, I always wondered what jumpers were in English books I've read. I didn't think they mean the same as we think of since men wear them. Thanks for clearing that up.
