"ACAPULCO, Mexico (AP) — A powerful, magnitude-7.5 earthquake shook central and southern Mexico on Friday. The U.S. Geological Survey said it was centered northwest of the Pacific resort of Acapulco, where many Mexicans are vacationing for the Easter holiday.
The quake was felt strongly in the resort city, as well as in Mexico's capital, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage." Fair use for educational and discussion purposes

One thing I've noticed about the big earthquakes lately is that they're not really affecting population centers all that much, thankfully; unlike the devastation done in Haiti in 2010 and Japan in '11.

Yes. Thankfully, indeed. Although I still find the amount of earthquakes an example of the earth and creation being in "distress," due to all that is going on.

There have been some really big quakes in the last week or so. In my opinion, they are changing to stronger quakes as well as frequency of quakes.

Yeah, there was a woman geologist/seismologist on today and the interviewer was asking her about this one in Mexico and the one in California. He asked, "Does this mean bigger and more frequent quakes worldwide?" and she said, "Uhhhhhmmmm, not necessarily...but California will definitely have a huge one." I thought, "What kind of advice is that? Do they know something the rest of us don't?"

Rieom, I think so too. But there have been bigger ones in the past, including in Mexico, which apparently was in 1985 and in which a lot of people died. So I think that these earthquakes are an example of the times, but not something to be based on alone.
Shiloh, it was kind of odd that she said that when the question was implying if now there will be bigger and more frequent earthquakes. But I think she was referring to a "big one" people are expecting to hit California eventually. I don't think anyone knows when, but apparently it's likely to happen one day. I heard about it last year but I didn't search into it that much. I think it has to do with the base of the land over there, I'm not sure. Morningstar may have a little bit more info on it. Where are you, Morningstar?
