Now, I know what is on your minds upon reading that title. Matthew 10:34, right? Which is true, yes. Peace and this world don't really go together. But what led me to share this was the part saying that Jesus died for [our salvation, for the forgiveness of] our sins. Could the RCC be taking a turn towards grace? How will they explain their purgatory doctrines, and doctrines of that kind?

I think not. He seems to be the kind of pope tha has the mentality of 'peace at any cost'.

Well, considering his 'atheists who are good people go to Heaven' opinion, I think he believes that Jesus was crucified for our sins, but that it doesn't matter to have faith or not. Which doesn't make sense. If, with Jesus having died for our sins, and, in his opinion, atheists go to Heaven too because of it, wouldn't all atheists be saved, as opposed to just "good" people? "Good" people implies righteousness by acts. The Word of God saying that no man will be justified by the Law, but that faith in His Son, our Saviour, is what justifies us.
Perhaps you're right and he's just trying to please ears, Shiloh.

Great point, John. I agree 100%. I think of Matthew 10:34, Luke 12:51
