Many years ago I heard Zola Levitt tell the story of how the best explanation for Matthew 27:53 was from a teacher he'd heard many years prior. When asked why those saints were raised from the dead, the teacher's answer went something like this: "It was the Feast of First Fruits and since Jesus wasn't a farmer and didn't have any crops to offer, He raised some dead people as His First Fruits offering." I love that ... which is why it stuck with me all of these years

The most interesting speculation I have ever read on Matthew 27:53 is at this link here: click here It will seem quite off the wall, but I think it's an intriguing possibility. Lowe was writing about the traits of the 144,000 and is continuing on: It would be better to read the whole page, and not this one insert.
